New Grad RN Positions in Las Vegas or Reno

I know about St. Rose and their Versant program, and I have seen a couple random positions on Valley & UMC websites, but does anyone know of any other New Grad openings, I would prefer a direct hire on a unit so if anyone knows of any positions o...

    Adult ER or Pediatric ER?

Ok so I got a few job offers, mostly because I've been networking like crazy and now I don't know which to pick. I got 2 offers from the county hospital, one in the adult ER and the other in Peds ER. I got another offer at another facility in their a...

    Rude nurse?

A lot of time people claim chest pain because they think it will get them in faster, it doesn't of course, it only causes unjustified tests... Perhaps OP the nurses were laughing because they see that so often. I'm sure they weren't laughing at you, ...

    Adult ER or Pediatric ER?

That's my fear, I know it will be scary and sad, I'm just hoping to find enough happiness to outweigh the sad parts. And I was hoping I could crossover and do adult pt later, but I guess since its Peds I would have to go through a training class to d...
  5. When asked what my biggest weakness is I have a very standard answer: "My biggest weakness is also my biggest strength, I have perseverance and persistence which are great qualities but sometimes I have to sit back and respect peoples choices, even i...

    What's the BEST nursing shoes?

In my opinion buy whatever sneakers you want and then buy REALLY good insoles. I have $40 sketchers and $50 insoles but I think danskos are uncomfortable and not worth the money.

    Adult ER or Pediatric ER?

I did accept Peds, I decided that was a better opportunity and in the long run, I can always do adult later. Plus I have a 3 yr commitment, and Peds seems like a better place to be "stuck"

    Adult ER or Pediatric ER?

I've read a lot of Peds ER managers don't like new grads, so it's really flattering to have been chosen. The Adult Ed I interviewed for in July and was hired but didnt have my license in time o they rescinded offer, the manager called me out of the b...

    Adult ER or Pediatric ER?

I'm really excited and nervous. It's just very tough choice. I've accepted the Peds position, but I kept thinking I should get adult exp first. I am SO THANKFUL you have been in both, and gave me such good feedback. I know getting a position in the ...

    Being a new grad sucks!

I had another interview. This time I flew to Reno so I could meet the department heads of the pediatric unit. This was a week ago and still nothing. I hate being a new grad. They said they would decide by the end of last week and hr would contact the...

shaggy77 I appreciate your comment. I accepted a job offer before Christmas on the IMC floor at Valley so things are DEFINETELY looking up for me. Just takes time, commitment and a winning personality. I had gotten another offer last month that wa...

    Nurses Who Smoke Marijuana

I am a medical marijuana patient and I thought with the card, my drug tests would not be an issue-- WRONG!! Nursing and Marijuana do NOT mix-- they IMMEDIATELY rescinded the job offer, and I cannot even apply for that facility or its subsidiaries for...

I have a very positive outlook on my life. Thanks for the feedback.
  16. So I had a career. A Good job, made descent money, stable...something was "missing"...so what did I do? I went and became a nurse. Cut down my hours at work, studied hard and then passed NCLEX and got my license. Yay for me right?? WRONG... Now I am ...

For those who passed: Please share your study habits

I passed nclex last month, first time I took it. To study I did the hurst program for 3 weeks before the test. I also did ati nclex qbank. I personally HATED Kaplan and do not recommend it. It is very confusing and the "strategy questions" do not pre...

  19. Today I got a new type of rejection email, it made me smile because I know they are all prewritten responses, but sometimes they feel personal, anyways this one said: After carefully reviewing the qualifications and background of the candidate pool, ...
  20. That's a round about way of saying we want you to be an RN, without paying for an RN.
  21. By the way please do the poll it is funny seeing the results. My personal FAV is the we don't want a new grad, we want a new grad with experience. When I get those emails I laugh, and then resist the urge to contact the recruiter and explain what a N...

  23. I'm sorry correction the facility I was referring to does not intervene unless seizure >2 min, they only call MD if seizure >3 minutes. The patients there have TBI or spinal cord injuries.
  24. I think in certain states they will not accept an RN as a volunteer, not because of if something life threatening happens(Good Samaritan) but just in general you might teach patients or use your nursing skills without even realizing you are doing it ...
  25. I applied for penn st Hershey I am waiting to see if I get selected for an interview. Pa seems to have a lot of options for new grads. I am in las Vegas and there is NOTHING here.
