  1. Don't let them get to you....I know that's hard (and I'm pretty sure all of us have come across the b*$#hy nurses that should really go plant dandelions somewhere). Just keep going, and don't ask...
  2. ADN=RN

Some employers prefer BSNs depending on the job being posted. If you are working the floor as a staff nurse, most places aren't going to be too nuts. If they are, and still complain about a shortage...
  3. Pregnant and nursing school?

At least you already know what it's like to have kids and recover from childbirth. That's a plus!! I know people do it; it sounds like you're fairly young- that will help, too
  4. WHEN and HOW to chose a specialty??

No matter which area you go into, I'd strongly suggest a year or two of plain old med-surg, to get the basics down better before having to deal with little patients who can turn on a dime and go sour....
  5. Pregnant and nursing school?

Oy.... pregnant and nursing school... that's going to be hard when you're exhausted or feel lousy (or end up on bedrest, God forbid). And, going to nursing school with a newborn- that wouldn't be any...
  6. declining a nursing job without burning a bridge?

I'd leave out the salary part unless she specifically asks- but don't emphasize that...if you do go back, they'll wonder why you'd be willing to take less money. JMHO
  7. WHEN and HOW to chose a specialty??

I'm glad for you. It's a long haul, but I'm so glad I went into nursing. I'm disabled now, and miss it so much... Something about kids- when it's good, it's good.... but when it's sad, it is...
  8. WHEN and HOW to chose a specialty??

No problem. When I went to school, I wanted to work peds... then I moved to TX at a time when hospitals in Austin didn't have peds floors or a childrens' hospital...so I ended up in neuro and I liked...
  9. WHEN and HOW to chose a specialty??

A lot of times, you get a job just to get a job- lol.... then, as you get into work, you learn more about what you really like (I thought I'd never work geriatrics or psych, and ended up loving both)....

And you're getting an RN at a tech
  11. Any phobias you overcame to become a nurse?

I always looked at NGs as puke vacuums, so I learned to like them rather quickly
  12. ADN=RN

Also, there is a big difference between a tech school and a community college....CCs credits are MUCH more likely to transfer to just about any 4 year school.... tech schools generally don't
  13. declining a nursing job without burning a bridge?

Yeah, that's a sticky one....but I think if I had someone call me, and tell me they'd been interviewing and were just hearing back from people, and at this time you feel you need to accept a different...
  14. ADN=RN

Unfortunately there's a lot of that in nursing.... a lot of it depends on what you want to do...and where you live. I have an ADN. I've worked the floor, been in charge, a sup, and a dept head...

  17. I did that when I was new- and it went on for a while, but got better as time went by. There were always some situations that came up that stuck with me...but I think that's just being

  19. coping mechanisms?

LOL- well THAT just jumps right out there, doesn't
  20. Any phobias you overcame to become a nurse?

The place is lousy with them!!! I detest large spiders (I've gotten to the point of being able to dispatch of the smaller ones). But, I was able to deal with them on the other side of a screen...
  21. Learn To Say It Correctly!!

    That would bug me
  22. Everybody runs late once in a while, at some point- traffic accidents, horrible weather, car craps out, etc... but I'll never understand the folks who show up late every *******' day.... The shift...
  23. Learn To Say It Correctly!!

    Yeah- it was good
  24. I cant pass the Nclex-PN!!!

How long do you have to pass the test? Maybe a bit of time to not worry about it would help (I know you'll still worry- but a break might not be a bad idea:)). Give yourself some room to breathe,...
