  1. L&D nurses: Advice please!

Bragging rights? umm no! I do not like med's and refuse to get any kind of needle in my back/spine. I don't even take meds for a headache let alone let someone put something in my spine. I rather tough it out. I had very mild labor's (5 hrs being the...
  2. L&D nurses: Advice please!

I'm not a nurse, yet but I've had three kids all natural. It's doable. If you want a natural birth, then stick that in you mind and let nothing else filtrate it. In my experience, I have never had a nurse try to change my mind. My nurses asked me reg...

  5. off duty nursing?

That's funny that you say that. I was just telling my hubby/friends, that the first thing I'm going to do when I get my RN license is run out and get the license's plate. Yes, I know it's dorky but after all that hard work I wanted to show it off. Th...
  6. off duty nursing?

I'm not a nurse, but a nurse in progress (still doing pre-riq's) anyhow, I keep gloves and a basic first aid kit in my car too. I'm like you, you can never be too prepared. I need a cpr face shield, thanks for reminding me. :thankya:
  7. The Grading Scale For Your School

Pre-rig's are: 90-100: A 80-89: B 70-79: C below 70: MP(Making Progress) or D (depending on class, some classes like Math you can't get a D and pass, you will get a MP and retake) below 69: F (if you have a pell grant, you can't get an F in any cl...
  8. just venting ove my Chem grade...

So, Just finished my Chem101 class. Ugh! It was by far the hardest class I've taken thus far. I did pass, with a "C" but not so happy about the grade. It has really dropped my GPA, I know I can bring that GPA up by doing well in my other classes but ...
  9. Could it be...don't have to take Chemistry? :)

I agree completely!! I think everyone should be required to take it, as you stated it is based on everything within the body and it is a good foundation for other nursing courses.
  10. Could it be...don't have to take Chemistry? :)

I agree, that is exactly what my local community college does. My sister has been out of school 12+ years but because she took a high school chemistry class, she doesn't need it in college. Chem is one of those subjects that people love or hate. If t...
  11. Could it be...don't have to take Chemistry? :)

My college does not require Chemistry to get into the RN program, however Chemistry is required as a pre-riq for A&P.
  12. just venting ove my Chem grade...

Thanks for the responses. I know "C" isn't the best grade but atleast I passed. I worked very hard, studied lots but came out knowing more then I ever did before I took chemistry, in which I am thankful!
  13. CHEMISTRY! (your experience/expertise/suggestions pls)

Chemistry is hard. I barely passed and even though I passed with a "C" I am grateful that I did pass, I worked very hard and studied lots. There were parts I totally got and others that I just couldn't grip. Hang in there, my school has a science lea...

  16. CNA or EMT After Rejection?

Umm.. Ok.. Not sure where to go with this one.... My School you apply for the Nursing program online and we follow a "points" system. For each completed course we get full points, if the class is in progress at the time of applying we get a half poin...
  17. I am a mother of 3, I'm soon to be 29 and I have been going to school (evenings, part-time) for almost 2 years. If things go my way, I should be begining the nursing program fall 2012. I've always wanted to be a nurse, it's my passion. I was planning...
  18. Summer Pre-Req's!

In my community college, our summer classes are accelerated. Depending on who you talk to some would advise you not to take A&P or Mirco during the summer. I, however, have not taken my A&P yet (will be doing that in fall/ A&P 2 spring.) ...
  19. Help!!! Pregnant and on the job search

It's a tough call! It's kinda like your darned if you do and your darned if you don't. Good luck! Do what your heart tells you and you won't have regrats! I will tell you that back in 2003, I had just recieved my CNA through a nursing home. I was al...
