@SurgicalRN Yes. I plan on working full-time. Don't really have an option to scale back because of all the bills, so I really hope it's manageable. Not sure how often we'll have clinicals per week once they start. Right now I work 3 12's Wed-Fri.

@SurgicalRN Oh I agree, its always PAs we see but NPs are just as qualified. So excited/nervous to start ?
Yeah I think you're right. I wanted to make sure to follow prompt strictly too since they won't really even look at it if you don't. Forgo...

@SurgicalRN Oh yay! Glad to see someone else in this specialty. I'll probably submit mine this weekend. Still tweaking essay. I would be curious to know if you also cited sources in statement essay or used a reference page. I know it says use evidenc...

@1glamrn True, guess I do need to add a citation in there just in case. The paper is definitely taking me the longest. This is the only school I'm applying to, only program that I know of that does this dual specialty.
ShockEmRN replied to 1glamrn's topic in NP Students
@1glamrn Oh yes, the references LOL. Trying to decide if I need cited sources as well and trying to get this APA format down. Which program are you applying to? And yes, I absolutely think the supervisor position will give you a boost, they love to s...

Finishing up application now. Just proofreading essay and I think I'm done. Applying for the AGACNP with RNFA sub-specialty.
6+ years experience (2.5 years med-surg, 4 years OR). GPA, I think if I calculated correctly, should be around 3.8 for l...
I also applied a few weeks ago for the 2015 Fall start. I graduated with my ADN May of last year. I think my GPA was around a 3.7. I'm so anxious :) I looked at past posts to see when students were accepted. It seems like the last two years the stude...
It depends. I got my CNA certification and then did phlebotomy and EKG on the side so I could get my PCT certificate hoping that it would make me a better sell when I applied to hospitals. It might have helped me get hired as a CNA at the hospital I ...
Yup. This about sums it up. Great post. If only our non-nursing family members and friends could understand all the hard work and torment we go through. It's hard for a reason and it'll be so worth it in the end. There's light at the end of the tunne...
I think it's an infant who requires low stimulation. Babies are born with an immature nervous system. Some infants are not able to tolerate a lot of stimulation like loud noises, bright lights, etc. These infants are placed on a Minimal Stimulation P...
I feel the same way. It's discouraging, but honestly I think we know more than we give ourselves credit for. I think it's just going to be repetition, repetition, repetition. Also as the member stated before me, "see one, do one, teach one" is going ...
I agree with everyone else. I was just like you when I started nursing school when it came to trying to prepare everything I could beforehand. You won't have much free time after school starts, so enjoy every minute of it. Nursing students have no so...
Absolutely! I am currently in nursing school and working as a CNA at a hospital. I was accepted to nursing school in 2011, but at the last minute I decided to decline my nursing spot and enroll in a CNA program instead. I did this because I needed a ...

Taking a medical terminology class can benefit you in the long run, but if you feel like it might be a lot to handle I wouldn't bother. You learn so much terminology in nursing school (actually I feel like I learned/retained more terminology in nursi...
I used Saunders and also my required Med-Surg Success book to practice NCLEX questions. I know for a fact that when I'm done reviewing my required reading material and I bite the bullet and do a whole bunch of NCLEX questions, I receive a better grad...
