  1. National American University???

I'm not sure how fast NKC is about the acceptance, but I saw a couple girls from NAU in CA and it took them 2 months to find out if they got in or not. Best of luck to you! I'll be applying for next June's program!
  2. 2nd week of clinicals and I don't know if I'm going to make it

And this mentality and attitude is EXACTLY you are good at what you do!! Good job!! Those residents are lucky you're there. :)
  3. I Don't Want To Take 9 Prerequisite Courses :-(

I would rather take 8 pre reqs than be forced to otain a CNA licensure that I'll never even use. I'm already an MA and see no real purpose (other than money for the institution requiring it) to get a CNA licensure. I'm going to be an RN, and will nev...
  4. National University San Diego July 2011 ABSN hopeful

No, I'm just starting the program. I just wondered if you had heard so I can judge how long is "normal" to wait, when I do apply! :)
  5. I Don't Want To Take 9 Prerequisite Courses :-(

My school has 17 pre reqs for the BSN. I would count myself lucky if I had 8 or 9! Hang in there, you can do this. I'm sure you will find every one of them useful in education.
  6. National University San Diego July 2011 ABSN hopeful

Have you guys heard anything yet on getting in??
  7. National University San Diego July 2011 ABSN hopeful

sdopem, I'm in KCMO. I have kicked around taking my gen eds at the CC here b/c it's WAY cheaper, but have decided just to stay with NAU the whole way. Thanks! I haven't been to school since 2003 when I went for Medical Assisting.
  8. National University San Diego July 2011 ABSN hopeful

Reading this post made me feel so happy! I am a prenursing student just starting NAU on March 9th. In KCMO. Right now I'm in the ASN program but planning to transfer into the ABSN! I'm just so happy to see a thread about NAU that is positive! If yo...
  9. 2nd week of clinicals and I don't know if I'm going to make it

Reading all this is seriously making me DREAD having to obtain my CNA to continue with nursing school. UGH!
  10. 2nd week of clinicals and I don't know if I'm going to make it

You can do this!! I agree with CSO/CNA Instructor. The instructor probably had some concerns with others and just voiced them to everybody. I'm sure you are good at what you are doing and were doing exactly what you said you were. Usually, it's the o...
  11. National American University???

Well, glad to hear that you are finishing your education. What works for one, doesn't always work for another. Any education has to be better than none. I, personally, have called recruiters at North Kansas City Hospital, Liberty Hospital, St. Lukes ...
  12. National American University???

I went to the OP campus just a few hours ago to look into their BSN program. They discontinued their LPN program last summer, they said. They also have a plaque on the wall that says their ASN pass rate was 100% and I haven't loooked yet, but don't t...
  13. ADN or BSN. Which should i choose? HELP

We are certainly in similar situations. Both broke, both have nothing but time on our hands, and wanting to do what's best! I am wondering if I should attend a BSN school here in MO. It's called UMKC. It's a top notch school as well and I think it ...
  14. National American University???

I didn't even know they had an LPN program. I thought they only had an ASN program. Now that I have been reading this thread, I am thinking about going to UMKC instead and just getting the BSN. It seems like it would be a better thing to do. I did ta...
  15. Older Nursing students

I'm so glad to hear that there are some "non traditional" students out there! Yes! I'm 35 and just now starting my pre req's. I am currently an MA, but want my ASN. Would love to obtain my BSN, but am afraid to bite off a chunk of 4 years when I have...
  16. Life as a minority in nursing

Ouch! This thread hurts to even read. It is sad that anybody has to worry about this. I am a minority myself. I am a caucasion, non traditional student. I hate having that description, but it is what it is. It won't stop me from becoming the RN I ha...
  17. National American University???

Since I joined this thread, I decided not to go to BMC, and have enrolled at NAU. The NCLEX pass rate that I was given for the recently graduated class was 100%. And 100% of those graduates are currently working in the field. Of course, I was given t...
  18. Exam in 2 weeks, tips,blessings,encouragement plz

Gold, I am a nursing student. FAR from taking my NCLEX, but I want to applaud you on your progress thus far! Here is my advice, take a nice, deep breath, and try to get a good night's sleep during this 2 weeks. Research shows that your education act...
  19. Living expenses + WCU tuition fees....

7 years is a long time for a 4 year degree. I definately feel your pain on this one. It's going to take me closer to 3 years to get my 2 year ASN. You are right about investing in your education. You are your best investment. You just have to do what...
  20. Living expenses + WCU tuition fees....

I haven't read through all the posts. But, from my schooling experience, you qualify for a certain amount of aid. The school as a certain amount of cost they will deduct from your "award" and whatever is left over is yours to save, or to spend on sch...

Echo, I tried to respond to your PM but it says I don't have permission to PM b/c I haven't had 15 posts yet. I'm pretty new to this site. I'll try to navigate around and see if I can send you an email or something.
  23. Looking for a school to obtain ASN

I am starting with English Comp and Micro. I'm not too terribly nervous....YET! I know I'll get that way though. My program is an ASN and is supposed to be 2 years but comes out to be 2 years and 9 months. I am a litle bummed because I am going to ha...
  24. CNA training in KCMO

I am looking into CNA training in the KC Mo area. I am enrolled in NAU and have to obtain my CNA before I can apply to the core nursing classes. Years ago, LTC facilities would certify. I have been on the phone with over 25 facilities and none of t...
  25. CNA training in KCMO

Thanks for your reply. I can use all the feedback I can get. I'm already a Medical Assistant, with 4 years experience, but from what I've been told, it won't take the place of the CNA licensure that is needed. Were you able to use financial aid for ...
