Content for both day and evening programs is the SAME.

The nursing program at JJC is highly competitive. Therefore, the more pre-reqs you have done the higher the chances you have to getting in, though there are some pre-reqs that MUST be taken prior to applying to the program. And no, you can not get a bachelors degree from JJC, it is only a community college, the highest degree you can get there is an associates degree. What I am doing is taking all the liberal arts requirements I need for my bachelor's so that I can transfer them to a university when I am done at JJC. Hope this helps

I had the teacher who quit last minute... All of us who had her are wondering what happened. I feel bad for you guys who should've had her because she was AMAZING! I can't believe only a couple of you guys passed the first exam. You'll get the hang of it soon. Take advantage of classes that Michelle and the rest of the NSL team has to offer, they are great tools. Take it day by day and feel free to ask any questions should you have any. Good luck guys =)

Don't get too worked up about teachers. You get who you get, the ultimate goal is to pass right? I'm in the evening program (2nd semester) and have been very fortunate to have had last semester and this semester (so far) fabulous clinical and theory instructors. I have heard bad stories about day teachers and one particularly difficult teacher who teaches 3rd semester. But I try not to get distracted with that stuff.

Mke sure that whatever program you are interested in accepts ED/PACU as ICU experience. There is a CRNA program I am looking into, and they are very specific as to what they consider "ICU experience"

I did AP 2 with an intro to art class (online) last summer. worked full time and my son was 3 at the time. Got A's in both classes. Only you know what you can handle. I say go for it though.

If it's something you're really determined to do, you'll do it no matter what. Once I set my mind on doing nursing, I just dove in to it...took as many classes I could to get all pre req's done ASAP. I accomplished this in 1 yr (10 classes)..while working full time and taking care of my son. Finished up with a 4.0 GPA. If you really want it, you'll make it work, no matter you circumstances. good luck to you

i say enjoy your time "off" You won't have much of it once September rolls around. Relax, and enjoy your pre-nursing school days. They'll teach you everything they want you to know once you start.

All nursing grading scales are like this. Your friends grading scale is especially tough though. At my school 93-100=A 86-92=B 80-85=C, Anything below an 80 is failing.

I have the Saunders and I'm currently using it for nursing school. It's well written, but then again I don't have anything to compare it to, since I heard Saunders is the best, I just wen with that one. Though I do have the Hurst Pathophysiology Review and I like how that one is written as well. Buy both and let us know which one you like better.

Fake as in it's not your real diploma. They mail you the one that counts. The one they hand to you during graduation is just for show.

You can do what's called licensure by endorsement. You don't have to take the NCLEX again..this is a national test..you pass it one state, valid in all states. Look on California's board of nursing webpage to get all the details. I myself am looking into this option, and have browsed the webpage...not too difficult to transfer license.

I went to a study skills worksop and it was suggested not to over do it with the highlighting. I'd say record lectures if it's permitted. Then listen to them within a day or so and write down important topics covered.

You're going in to teach about handwashing...you happen to be a nurse...instead of, going in as a nurse to teach about handwashing.

The most important things I can recommend: 1) Get organized (in all areas of your life) 2) Do NOT procrastinate (study a little bit everyday) I'm only 5 weeks in, but these 2 things have been the most important for me. I work 40 hours a week on top of school, so some some cuts have been made in my life, but nothing drastic. Everyone is different, so do what works for you that entails the 2 things mentioned above.
