Questions during grad school interview?
Each school is different. I applied to three different schools. One asked the extreme clinical questions (choose 5 drugs off of their supplied list and know their levels of action down to the cellular level), talk about an interesting questions, vent questions, many questions on monitoring (and what the numbers mean). One asked alot of general anesthesia type questions. The other one asked alot of personal questions-what type of person are you, why do you want to be a CRNA, what are some of the political issues currently with CRNA's. My personal belief is that you will find the school that will work for you. Don't give up and do your best to be enthusiastic and CALM.:dncgbby: IT IS SO WORTH IT!!! I grad almost a year ago-it is the best job ever....

Any CRNA in Air Force?
I totally agree. The pride experienced from a military obligation cannot be matched by any other life experience. It justifies the term, "proud to serve," IMO. Semper Fi My application is as an ICU nurse, so it would be in the medical field.

Any CRNA in Air Force?
I have just been accepted to Murray's CRNA program and am in the process of a completed application for ANG, I was a previous Marine. I just don't want the issue of possible deployment while in school-will have to wait and see what my contract options are before I commit.

Second time around
Keep trying. I applied to more than I would be proud to acknowledge-like to think that my age was a major detractor. Bottom line-I got accepted to a school that I absolutely fell in love with during the interview process. They were warm, friendly and not intimidating. The hospital where we will be doing our clinicals is exactly the same-so you will find your niche....

Anesthesia Information Sheets ROCK!

Apply before BSN completion?
Apply now. I applied and was awarded interviews before completion, esp. if you have strong grades. Get your CCRN-it helps alot-IMO.:yeahthat:

Loans or Pay Out of My Own Pocket??
My question to the group is related to loans vs. private pay. After you graduated, did you find it beneficial to let your new employer pay off your loans as an hire on bonus or did you receive a better pay or bonus personally if you had paid your tuition, etc. out of your own pocket? I have planned and saved and do not need the loans, but would an employer make me a more attractive offer without that overhead cost up front?? If they "plan" on covering a new hires loans, do they get any benefits from paying those loans??

Anyone invited to interview at Wolford?
CONGRATS!! I would have loved the sun and beach, but the close commute to kids currently in college, cheaper living area, and small class-I chose the bird in hand....When do you have to let them know you if you are going to accept their offer?

Accepted at Murray State-August 2006
I hated to cancel my interview at naples, but decided to forego the interview since I was happy with the Murray offer. Good luck with the Naples interview. I think that their interview is very similar to Murrays-at least from the perspective that they both have the same amount of time alloted.

Accepted at Murray State-August 2006
Yes, it is nice knowing you have a home. Wow, that is a heap big difference in the costs. How do they rate it at that costs? We are still flying to Florida and vacationing now that the immediate pressure is off. Now I am searching the list for all the good loan data. Started filling out that paperwork this morning-man, it is bad enough filling out applications-the loan paperwork is awesome.....guess I have to b---ch about something....

Accepted at Murray State-August 2006
That is correct, I emailed them yesterday and cancelled my interview. The cost of living is 1/3 of the cost of Naples. It is not a brand new program, Murray has been a CRNA site for years. They just added the remote site this fall. I like the fact that they only have 12 students at the primary and there are only 4 of us at St. Claire. We will utilize the St. Claire hospital for our first clinicals and then use Kosairs/UofL for the peds/trauma-the same sites as the primary class. I really like the fact that their does not seem to be ANY age discrimination. They ask you personal questions vs. regurg the material you have memorized for clinical questions (not to take away from those stressful clinical scenarios). I just really like the fact that they evaulate the student personality-esp. since they will be providing the instruction/education that will be needed to become a proficient student ready for boards. They have a higher than national mean on intubations and you start doing clinicals the first semester. Did you interview at OHSU yet???

:monkeydance: i can hardly believe it. i was awarded at seat with murray state's new site in morehead, ky. i highly encourage adding murray to your application list-they were terrific. very warm, supportive and unlike the other two sites that i interviewed at-they weren't there to intimidate. st. claire's is a very supportive sight-one of their or nurses came in from vacation just to take us through the hospital-she spent the entire time with us.....hat's off to murray for making the interview process what it should be.

Wolford CRNA School in Naples Pros/Cons?
Hey, I certainly understand on the number of emails, no offense taken. We are going down on the 13th and returning on the 18th-I have to work on the 20th. Is this your first interview?? I went back to school, was an LPN for 13 years, went back obtained my RN, then continued on to BSN. After switching to the ICU and meeting CRNA's, hearing how much they love their job and lives, decided to pursue it. Plus, kids are grown and now is a real good time for us ...and we currently own property in Florida, so this would give us a great opportunity to see if I/we want to live down there permanently. How about you??

MTSA anyone??
I prefer MTSA since I won't have my BSN completed until May and Cincinatti would not even consider me. But, since I am a TN resident, the tuition is much better. I also like the small facility at MTSA Sherry
