  1. The director of my nursing program suggested applying for a license in the state our school is in. One of the students planned to move to another state within weeks of graduation. It was recommended to get her license in our state, and then apply f...
  2. We took ATI during school, and we did the week long Kaplan review between the last day of class and graduation. All fees were included in our tuition. No opt out option was made available. If we did not attend all the Kaplan sessions, and do 5/7 o...
  3. What is the passing score for your school?

83% is passing, 82.9 isn't. Tests are 80% of the grade, homework 10%, and quizzes 10%. We had a quiz every day, unless it was a test day. Quizzes could not be made up, it was an excellent way to keep attendance up :) Clinicals were P/F
  4. Does this job sound like a scam?

Sounds like you will be responsible for cashing that check, buying all that stuff, sending funds to the agent, then watch the check bounce. :hpygrp: (not really happy, just found a "boinging" smiling) ~Simmy
  5. Lots of SATA questions for June NCLEX testers???

I took mine Monday. 26 of my 75 questions were SATA. It took me 45 minutes to take the test, and now I get a "results on hold" pop up. :-( Which I guess is better than a credit card pop up, but not as good as a "contact the BON" pop up. I'm guess...
  6. Confidence?

I passed the NCLEX-PN with 85 questions. Took me about 30 minutes, and I thought it was one of the easiest tests I have ever taken. The staff at the Pearson center were surprised at the fact that I was smiling as I walked out the door. Tomorrow ...
  7. What did you want to be when you grew up?

Something that would require foreign travel :) A flight attendant, translator, international businesswoman... ~Simmy (who got married instead, and now is curious if there are home health travel nurses since the husband is no longer in the picture)
  8. Graduated

It feels so weird to be watching TV on a Sunday night, and thinking about going to work tmro instead of doing homework. Graduation was Friday, and my family is really happy, they are looking forward to me cooking dinner again. ~Simmy
  9. Who pays for your pin?

We pay for the pin out of our fees, I'm assuming. It isn't a line item on the school's invoice. We haven't talked about the pins during any meetings, so I don't have a clue what they will look like, or if we have any choices. We didn't for LPN. On...
  10. Kindle 3 or the Nook Color

I went with the Kindle, and I love it. I can read outside with it. I am assuming the Nook would have the same problems as my phone does. I can't see the screen in bright light. Also, I have a hard time getting to sleep, and my doctor told me not ...
  11. A Pre-nursing Student who believes...

But, unfortunately nursing school is not one of those positions.
  12. i have no idea what im supposed to be doing

During LPN school, we had one patient and did total patient care. There were many times we would get done, and be looking for stuff to do. This year, in the RN program we have 2 patients, and still doing total patient care. We get on the floor by 07...
  13. Countdown to Pinning

105 days, pinning in the AM, graduation that night. I have a countdown calendar on my phone, somebody asks me everyday how much is left. ~Simmy
  14. nursing specialties

I'm one of the few in my class who does not want to go into ICU, or ED, or even Peds. I absolutely loved the psych rotation, but I am also drawn to hospice. So much of what we've been learning is how to keep people alive, and sometimes it is just t...
  15. Does anyone take supplements to stay healthy?

There is a liquid fish oil by Baleans available in health food stores. It is thick and tastes like lemon meringue pie. For real, no aftertaste at all. ~Simmy
  16. My school is a 1+1 program. The first 2 semesters and a summer session are the LPN year. Then we have to pass the NCLEX-PN to continue to the second (RN) year. About 10 years ago, they required everybody to take a year off and get some experience ...
  17. Thank you for your concern. I do really appreciate it, I did a lot of soul searching before I took this step. I've always had issues with insomnia, nursing school just lit the fire under me to do something about it. Not getting to sleep until 3 or 4...
  18. What kind of BAG do I carry all this stuff in?

One of my instructors has one of these. She uses it everyday between her office and the classroom (a distance of about 100 feet) Yes this is the same instructor that gives us the case studies. ~Simmy
  19. What kind of BAG do I carry all this stuff in?

I take my books because our classes are 4 hrs long. When the instructor gets tired of talking she hands out case studies for us to do. We never know when she is going to do this, and we need our text to answer the questions. Another instructor le...
  20. Nothing left to do....

I'm 44 years old, start my last semester next Tuesday. I have been just hanging out enjoying my last vacation (5 weeks of semester break) for the foreseeable future. On the other hand, I can't wait to graduate and get started on my life. I'll jo...
  21. Back to the topic at hand I'm going into my last semester, and I'm terrified, also. My doctor put me on anxiolytics and sleepers to help. We have a new clinical instructor who's a trauma nurse, and if we don't come up to her standards she has no pr...
  22. May 2011 graduates..nervous for last semester?

I have been having irrational fears of failing just before graduation. I'm an A student, but find clinicals very stressful (I don't like being watched when I do things). The coursework is really heavy this semester, with our three hardest classes,...
  23. A Couple General Nursing School Questions

There are 24 students in my nursing class. We all have the same classes at the same time. A master calendar was given to us at the beginning of the semester, because sometimes the class times will be different from what the official school schedule...
  24. LPN and RN-What does this mean?

In my state, my LPN will be changed to inactive when I get my RN. I had a professor tell me that when she is ready to retire, but wants to work "just a little bit" she will put her RN on inactive status, and reactivate her LPN. That way she can jus...
  25. What do your hands say about you?

They would prolly decide that I'm OCD (even though you couldn't get farther from the truth) because my hands are cracked and bleeding from washing a million times a day. ~Simmy
