Seriously? More deflection? I know who Jon Fetterman is and even know what he looks like, but why on earth would I need to know any more about him? Again, I am over 3000 miles away, on a different continent in a different country. Tell you what, without googling it, tell me about the Scottish Parliament and give me your opinion of Anas Sarwar MSP. (Picked because he is well known in the UK)

Not really, I have based my opinion on reading your comments so seems pretty clear to me. MAGA is as MAGA does, If it reads like MAGA then it's probably MAGA. I know who Jon fetterman is but know little about him, so asking that question is not really productive and you are deflecting and/or using whataboutism.

Well from 3000 plus miles away you certainly appear MAGA. You have accused others on this site (including me) of having TDS, so if you spport him like that then you are MAGA. No arguments, no discussion, you are MAGA. From this distance there is no nuance, no distinction.

Fair enough, if you say it was staged then I believe you. Thank you for that. I didn't say it was staged I said it MAY have been staged which is why Trump didn't react. But I won't argue with a self confessed MAGA.

I have seen pictures that show Melania and the woman on the other side of Trump looking really scared when the shots rang out but Trump didn't flinch or move and looked quite calm. 1) This MAY be because it was staged and he was excpecting it, 2) He may have some hearing loss -he is old after all - and just did not hear the shots, 3) He may have mistaken what was happening - he is old after all. Being honest, neither one would surprise me. What does surprise me is that people are surprised that the most divisive president has made enemies.

Absolutely true. The Royal Bank of Scotland notes :- £5 has Mackerel and on the front it has a picture of Nan Shepherd, a writer. £10 has Otters and on the front is a picture of Mary Somerville a mathemetician, scientist and astronomer. £20 has Red Squirrels and on the front a picture of Catherine Cranston known for tea rooms and as a patron of Charles Rennie Mackintosh. £50 has an Osprey and on the front a picture of Flora Stevenson a social reformer with an interest in education for poor and neglected children. The Bank of Scotland notes have :- On the front of all these notes is a picture of Sir Walter Scott but on the back are :- £5 Brig o Doon, a medievil bridge in Ayrshire. £10 has Glenfinnan Viaduct, made more famous by the Harry Potter films £20 has the Forth Bridge. £50 has the Falkirk Wheel and the Kelpies £100 has Flora Murray a medical pioneer and suffragette. We also use Clydsedale Bank notes £5 has a picture of The Forth Bridge with Sir William Arrol a Scottish Engineer on the front. £10 has a picture of Edinburgh old and new town with Robert Burns on the front. £20 has a picture of St Kilda a remote island with King Robert the Bruce on the front. If you go here it will tell you more about them :- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Banknotes_of_Scotland For pictures of Scottish notes just Google Scottish Currency and select images. This will give you an idea about different sizes and different colours. I should add, that when in England it is always advisable to carry English notes as they can be a bit reluctant to accept Scottish banknotes despite them being legal tender. In Scotland however we accept Bank of England notes and also occasionally Bank of Ireland Sterling notes.

Now that sounds a bit like Socialism. 😉 Giving money to help others? By the way, do NOT lecture me on the difference between Socialism, Communism and Capitalism. I am in the UK and totally understand the differences.

Yes, not a great update, sorry moderators, but apparantly I am categorised as a "Newbie" and also have a "One Year User" award. It is difficult to find things and I have to use the "search" process just to see what others have written. The site is extremely unresponsive, it takes ages for it to load (and no, it is not my WiFi or my computer) and it just doesnt look or feel professional. Sorry but it really needs to improve.

Page 323 from January 23rd. Do you notice any disrespect there? Are you going to compare the missing capitals which I've already stated, were not deliberate until you commented, with this disrespect? Does it matter? If you're "barely bothered" I have to show you this YouTube clip. It is not meant in any way to be nasty and I hope you take it in the spirit it is meant - fun. ?? https://www.YouTube.com/shorts/Z_OQ9_To8zk

I think that you will find that I did not capitalise marine of any nationality in this quote, as it was not necessary, I was asking a legitimate question. Meh! I don't let these little things bother me. You brought up the capitalisation. My reply was meant to be a bit of irony/humour. This is just not true as demonstrated by the quote history until after you had brought it up and I then made a deliberate effort not to capitalise. I would point out that a few weeks ago when I tried to point out the Trump lies about British troops and their deployment in American wars a certain poster here said "Oh dear some Brits got their feelings hurt", (Not the exact quote but it should be easy enough to find). So I'm not too worried about capitalisation of American marines. You seem to be getting bothered by one use of an uncapitalised word. I should add, that when writing these comments (all comments, not just this particular one) I have a dictionary and a thesaurus sitting beside me to make sure I at least attempt to get the spelling correct. Sometimes I get it wrong and I am definitely not using American spelling.??

I wasn't arguing against removal of illegals, just the methods. UK has a huge problem at the moment with illegal migration - not disputing that - and a lot of resources are being used to house them, usually hotels. This has lead directly to the rise of the Reform party and the far right which a lot of citizens are against and protested them last weekend. There are also regular protests against the migrants which are staged where the migrants are housed. It will be "intersting" (I think that's the right word) to see what happens in the upcoming elections.

Well I was thinking if an agent took away a marine's relative what do they do? Just say; "OK, bye mum, bye dad, I will see you whenever and enjoy your stay in prison (sorry, detention centre) while I am away putting my life on the line for this country." Not much really, it just seems to me a bit suspect that ICE targets a ceremony like that and would expect to just get away with it. British Marines are taught to think for themselves a bit. Also, although I have no military experience I have worked with and had drinks with Royal Marines. Very intelligent, very brave and very independent. Only if preceded by the word Royal.

Shades of North Korea perhaps?

Just curious, what happens if ICE grab the parents of a marine? I would expect to at least see a few ICE agents injured and that marines colleagues getting involved. Sounds like a recipe for a clusterf****. Apologies for the use of that word moderators but it seemed the most appropriate.

Where did I say Republicans? I said; "I was talking about the people (generic you) who want to disenfranchise citizens so that they always win votes". Now that could be any party but you jumped to Republicans. What is that saying about who you believe is most likely to do it? Maybe try to have an unbiased look at what is going on. https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/20419058251376785

"Many ways for fraud to happen". Yes I agree, but what is the actual number? In UK; In the past 5 years, there is no evidence of large-scale electoral fraud. Of the 1,318 cases of alleged electoral fraud reported to police between 2020 and 2024, 8 led to convictions and the police issued 3 cautions. Most cases either resulted in the police taking no further action or were locally resolved by the police issuing words of advice. https://www.electoralcommission.org.uk/research-reports-and-data/electoral-fraud-data Exactly, that is the irony. Trump is not a king but behaving like one and you (generic you) are letting him. As I said this was NOT a protest against the King, it was a protest against the far right. If there was a protest against King Charles the posters would read; "Not My King". I haven't seen any pictures of "No Kings" posters but if there are any then it was done in support of the US protestors. Our leaders are having to answer to the public, something I don't see your leaders doing. Nah. Just showing you that Americans don't really get irony, especially British irony. Nothing personal.

I love how you conflate the personal "you" with the generic "you". Let me make this clear, I was not talking about YOU personally, I was talking about the people (generic you) who want to disenfranchise citizens so that they always win votes. America seems to like Gerrymandering areas to get the results the people who are already in power want. Personally I wish voting was compulsory, the way it is in Australia. I absolutely do not care about you one iota. Your politics seem to me to be so right wing you are bordering on fascism.

Well yes, because people move. I get a letter with the name of everyone registered to vote at my address. If it is correct then I ignore it. If it's not I send the correct list back. When my sons moved out I took their names off the list so that they could get their own letter and could vote at the place nearest to them. They (and we) could just as easily ask for a postal vote. Don't see what the problem is. 2 things on this; First, "these people"? Way to other people. We are not "these people" we are citizens of a country with more sensible leaders than yours. Second. this was a demonstration against the far right not against the King. If anyone had a "No Kings" poster it was done in proper irony and it would have been done in support of Americans. Just a hint, if you actually see poster with that on it it will have Trumps face on it. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cm2rn03ryz8o Do not under any circumstances lecture the British about irony. I'm just impressed that you can spell it, never mind do it or understand it.
