It does get better. Nursing school is enough to make anyone hate nursing but when you are on the floor, or in the office, or in the field things sort of fall into place. No nursing job is perfect but with time you become more competent and confident ...

What you are describing is terrible, and I hate that you are going through it, but unfortunately this is an all too common situation that many nurses experience. Lateral violence, or "nurses eat their young" often occurs to new nurses by nurses who a...

I am curious as to why you are using a recruiter? Have you tried applying to hospitals directly? Recruiters often make their money off the nurses that get hired. They usually received a payment for every referral they send that gets hired and stays a...
I've experienced this in the past. I'm very fortunate now to have a hospital that makes sure to recognize their nurses and not just mesh it all in with hospital week.

Terrible to hear of the fate of the young girl. Wonderful to hear that you've moved onto much greener pastures. It's been nearly a year since I've left the hospital that caused me so much grief, and I couldn't have made a better decision.

Really the job responsibilities of an informatics nurse vary from organization to organization. I can tell you what I do as an informatics nurse. I am the system administrator for a home health EMR. I troubleshoot bugs and problems in the software an...
Sad to see you leave. Nursing can be a wonderful and beautiful experience. But sadly in can also be devastatingly stressful and at times unbearable. I wish you luck in whatever career choice you may. I hope you'll keep your license current. You never...

mention the words "hostile work environment" to your boss. They'll fix it or know they have the potential to be sued. Document. Document. Document. Every occurrence of the bullying and mobbing that is taking place needs to written down and logged. Yo...

I would love to assist in an Epic implementation. I have used several EMRs, primarily Meditech, and from what I have read and looked at, Epic appears to be one of the best. Good luck!

Count me in with you folks. Attempting to bridge from bedside care to informatics and am finding that everyone wants experience as an informacists or EMR specialist. Expanding my search as well, and am even willing to relocate for the right opportuni...
TrekFan, Your post was difficult to understand. However, I will say that it is not safe for patients for you to practice as an RN if you are unable to remember giving medications or other aspects of nursing care. I wish you the best of luck, but you...
One day at a time. The rewards are subtle but worth it. As far as knowing what is important, well that just comes with time. You will slowly develope an intuition about things and your nurse spidey sense will take control in situations when needed....

Have you been spying on me? You are describing to a T something I have been experiencing for the past couple of years. I'm also often told I am too sensitive, take things too personally, am looking for problems, and was made to change shifts and loo...

In my first class in my RN- to BSN program my tracher spent the whole time explaining how nurses aren't viewed as professionals because the entry level is not BSN. She says that it will become the minimum before long. I disagree. This has been deba...
