I find Texas a great place to work. I recently stopped traveling in April for grad school and decided to take a full time charge position in Dallas. I traveled to San Antonio and although I too heard stories I actually had a nice time. I also spent a...
Texas Health is a great health care system and many ppl also love Baylor. Since you are a relatively new nurse I would go with the larger facilities like Texas Health HEB or Baylor grapevine and avoid the smaller stand alone centers.
Chemo orders should be faxed/tubed to the oncology unit and two chemo nurses should verify orders and check calculations. At my hospital there is an oncology pharmacist during the day and calculations/orders are also verified with pharmacy. It's best...

I did three assignments in Houston, TX and while I was not there for the money I can tell you pay is generally more than that. Also, housing was around $1600. The rate you have been quoted sounds more like Dallas to me as Dallas pays alot less and ho...
I'm also a young AA nurse. I have been traveling non stop the past 2 years and recently decided to move back to Dallas to work on my Master's. Great places I've been are Dallas, Houston and the DMV. If anyone comes to Dallas hit me up!
Hello all, I am considering an assignment at John Hopkin's in Baltimore on the Oncology unit. Just want to hear first hand from previous travel nurses who have been there. I tried researching but most of the forums are from 3 plus years ago. Just won...
I took an assignment at MD Anderson and hated it. As an oncology nurse I was super excitied about working at the number one cancer center but it was by far the worst experience ever. The nurses prime their own chemo tubing which is NOT safe, they don...
It depends on the agency, if you have all the paperwork from previous agencies and state license for new assignment then two weeks is plenty. I would call the agency and tell them I'm going home because I have no where to stay, the fear of them losin...
Sorry all this happened to you and no this has never happened to me or any of my travel friends. Usually when you arrive at a place and they delay your start date for a week they let you stay in the apartment and deduct from your paycheck. I really w...

Memorial Hermann in Houston doesn't pay well at all. But the housing stipend should be a bit higher. I've been here since June and the average is $1500.
Hello Ashley, I also have a BSN and work in oncology and would love to further my education. Like you I don't want to do management nor NP. After extensive research I've narrowed it down to two options. Clinical Nurse Leader and MSN with emphasis on ...
Honestly to me the agency doesn't matter. As long as they offer the things I require and the assignment that I desire. It's all a game but you will learn :-)
Everything will be ok. Just remember nursing is nursing no matter where you go. The nurse ratio depends on the unit. I'm medical oncology so it's mostly 1:4 or 1:5. Good luck and I hope this helps. I might be going back to Dallas soon but IDK yet!
Dallas is a wonderful place to travel. They have great hospitals such as Medical City, THR, UT Southwestern and etc.... even the county hospital Parkland is better than most cities. There are tons of things to do in Dallas and you shouldn't have a pr...

Honestly, it really doesn't matter. If the hospital has a position open then the agency is eager to fill no matter how many assignments you plan to take with them.
I've taken it twice and passed both times with the most recent time being in September. I found it very easy, maybe because I'm comfortable with the computer and a younger nurse (3 years). The advice I give others is act as if you're getting report f...
Trustaff is a travel agency that don't offer free housing. They usually pay you a higher rate $36 plus so housing isn't free. My advice is to get a room for the three nights and drive back home if you really want the assignment. If you are looking fo...
Hello, I took an assignement in Bethesda, MD and the housing there is crazy expensive. I've been researching for over a week and I'm tempted to turn the assignment down due to housing. Anyone traveled here or close before and if so where did you stay...
Well I guess I will be replacing you as I work Oncology too. As long as my license isn't in jeporady I'll give it a shot, but thanks for the heads up. P.S I was told 6 pts during the interview and I will make them honor this!
