Hello,

I took an assignement in Bethesda, MD and the housing there is crazy expensive. I've been researching for over a week and I'm tempted to turn the assignment down due to housing. Anyone traveled here or close before and if so where did you stay? P.S This particular company doesn't offer free housing. Thanks a bunch!

Peppertree Farms in Silver Spring, MD. Not a bad place. Apartments are nice but it's a big complex and can be noisy from all the children. (Hope you aren't going to Suburban Hospital)

Thanks oldnursern and yes I'm going to Suburban what's the deal I just left a horrible assignment so I hope this isn't another one!!!!

I just left there. Staff there is awesome but staffing is horrific! House supervisors couldn't care less that your floor is already swamped and keep piling the patients in. They NEVER staff according to the grid. You run run run. 5 full-time, regular staff nurses resigned while I was there, tired of what they felt was unsafe staffing. I do wish you good luck.

what area did you work?

Oncology. I worked nights. We had 6+ pts, one tech. Even the day nurses have 5 and 6 pts. ALL the nurses on the oncology floor were awesome, helpful, and very appreciative of travelers. Traffic is a nightmare there. Parking is good, they have a parking garage. You have to wear navy blue scrubs. management is very good at listening and murmurs their sympathies of your concerns and it's back to business, as usual. Guess that's why there is an exodus of staff resigning.

Well I guess I will be replacing you as I work Oncology too. As long as my license isn't in jeporady I'll give it a shot, but thanks for the heads up. P.S I was told 6 pts during the interview and I will make them honor this!
