  1. Discouraged by Nurses who hate their job

So I am VERY excited about nursing, I will find out in two weeks if I am accepted into the RN Program. It really interests me and seems like something I will enjoy. The only thing that bothers me is EVERY nurse I have spoken to tells me they hate the...
  2. Paperwork and housing = pain in the butt

I start my first travel assignment in a few weeks and I just have to vent a little.....maybe its the agency I chose, or maybe they are all this way...but first of all, once I signed the contract I received a list the size of Texas for paperwork to pr...
  3. Travel in an RV or Camper...

This is definitely something I plan to do! First time traveler and I start in 2 weeks and so far all that money I THOUGHT I would be pocketing.....going down the drain to rent!!! Everything is at least 2grand/month it's ridiculous! If at all possible...

    Lololol
  5. travel nursing in florida

Do you guys find that night shift pays more? Where I work we make $4/hr more. For a night shift job in the Florida panhandle I was quoted $1149/wk that's including housing stipend and AFTER taxes on hourly ($650/wk stipend so hourly must be 18 or so)...
  6. How to Answer "What's Your Greatest Weakness?"

Thanks for your input! Good to know it wouldn't be a terrible example. I used it once but didn't get the job and I always wondered if that was part of the reason
  7. Gulfcoast Medical Center in Panama City

I am thinking of taking a travel assignment at Gulfcoast in Panama City and I'm just curious if anybody has worked here, specifically in MedSurg and do you like it? Where I currently work we use Epic for all our charting, it's a relatively smaller ho...
  8. How to Answer "What's Your Greatest Weakness?"

Here's one I always struggle with, "Tell me about a time you've had a conflict with a coworker". I hate being on the spot and in some interviews I've quickly answered that I get along well with everyone and I am laid back, and honesty haven't had any...
  9. I've been an RN for 2 years now on the same med-surg floor at a relatively smaller hospital (270 bed level III trauma center). I have recently decided to travel, just waiting to get my license back in another state and I hope to be traveling within ...

  11. Website for refresher - medsurg nurse looking to travel

thanks! I downloaded it and it looks awesome, but I'm using the free trial which doesn't show much of anything. I went to purchase the full version but it doesn't show the price anywhere, just wants me to sign into iTunes and purchase. Any idea how m...

That's good to hear, I'll keep that in mind. I definitely want to know of any hospitals I should steer clear of
  14. travel nursing in florida

That's good to hear, keep it coming haha I want to know all the hospitals to steer clear of!
  15. travel nursing in florida

I will be traveling. Well that's good to hear, the only thing is so far when I've applied for certain areas it just names the city and not the specific hospital but obviously I would find that out at a time it is discussed with my recruiter. Right no...
  16. Have you traveled to Florida?

Just curious are you still traveling? If so have you come across any other good hospitals in Florida? I just applied for my Florida license today (Currently in Alabama) and after reading all the negative comments I'm a little nervous about it. Do man...
  17. travel nursing in florida

I know this is an older post but maybe someone will see, but my question is, since you have been to so many different facilities in Florida are there any areas you recommend? Or would say to stay away from? I'm in Alabama and just applied for my Flor...
  18. I just need some serious input here (and please no rude comments, I've seen enough of nurses jumping all over each other on this website). First off let me say this, I am most definitely NOT a mean person, at all. If anything I'm probably too nice. ...
  19. Charge nurse hates me? and overall nasty attitude of coworkers

Just wanted to update everyone. I had a talk with my manager about the situation and she insisted on speaking with the charge nurse when she worked again. I'm assuming they spoke because the charge nurse has been much more friendly and helpful thus f...
  20. Charge nurse hates me? and overall nasty attitude of coworkers

And of course I am always there for my pts. My pts always love me I go above and beyond what is needed to make them happy and be there for them all. At least several pts each shift thank me for all I've done and tell me they're glad to have met me. N...
  21. Charge nurse hates me? and overall nasty attitude of coworkers

I dont care if she likes me or not, but obviously when she has the ability to make my shift a living hell I do care about that....??
  22. Charge nurse hates me? and overall nasty attitude of coworkers

i understand that and I have tried not to take it personal, I've let it roll off my shoulders for 8 months now and think, eh that's just how she is so I do what she asks and smile about it. And at first I just thought it was a coincidence I had a bad...
  23. Charge nurse hates me? and overall nasty attitude of coworkers

I actually went through 12 pts that shift. I may have started out with 6 instead of 5 I can't remmeber now but if did count up the day it happened and there were 12. So I was correct to assume she maybe could have at least helped me do the new inpati...
  24. Charge nurse hates me? and overall nasty attitude of coworkers

Well ill they have recently changed us to "team nursing" where we have one PCA per RN so we used to have 5 pts, now we can have up to 7. but we are always short staffed with PCAs so we usually have to end up sharing a PCA with 1 or 2 other nurses :/
  25. Charge nurse hates me? and overall nasty attitude of coworkers

Somebody actually suggested I keep a journal of it. I'm new so I still have a hard time determining what is right or wrong....like as far as what others ask of me or what is expected of me, what duties shouldn't be mine to do, etc. If that makes sens...
