    First step complete!

Congratulations! Don't be shocked about doing well on the GED, just because you quit school early, doesn't mean you're not smart enough to succeed! I'm sure you did great on the math and science....

Just Took The dreaded TEAS test

How very supportive. I don't think one's anxiety over an entrance exam is an indicator that they won't be able to cut nursing school. The time limits and pressure to get a competitive score can...

Will there ever be a surplus of nursing jobs again?!

And I can actually see why this is the case. Student loans are non-credit based so a kid out of high school with no money and no credit can go to college. The lender has to have some protection, and...

Am I making a mistake by enrolling in an ADN program?

BSN students take just as much clinicals as ADN. Honestly, I will never understand where this misconception comes from-- Isn't there a required amount of clinical hours for a school to keep it's...

Am I making a mistake by enrolling in an ADN program?

You're not wasting your time. You love your program, see it through. It'll be easy enough to bridge down the road.
  6. As challenging as geriatrics can be, it's one of the areas I'm most looking forward too... I love old people as much as I do kids!
  7. I'm open to just about anything!! I'm looking forward to clinicals to try different things out. I'm also open to public health, doctor's offices, school nursing, hospice-- not much I'm not considering...

Will there ever be a surplus of nursing jobs again?!

This is not unique to nurses right now- this is happening across the board with non-executive professional and paraprofessional jobs. Wage freezes, hiring freezes, insurance and benefit reductions,...

    Need major advice, worried...

I think you've got too much on your plate with the death of your grandmother, you grandfather falling ill, full time work and volunteering. Something needs to give.. I think if you make an...

failed my clinical rotation? very worried..

It sounds to me like she's saying that you don't go above and beyond. There are people in the world that will do the minimum required of them, and little more. There are other people that will do...

Help!!! I can not find a job!!

If they are still doing that in Tacoma when I graduate- I might be taking you up on that--- I'd love to move to the west

failed my clinical rotation? very worried..

At the very least written apologies to the dean, the clinical instructor, and the school (clinical site) is in order. Be sure to also write an essay acknowledging the mistakes you made, the possible...

Help!!! I can not find a job!!

I'm sorry you're experiencing this. Is relocation a possibility? Perhaps you can widen your search that way. Also, have you tried looking at doctor's offices, LTC, Assisted Living, Home Health, etc....

    Pregnant nursing student/worried

We can't give you medical advice- but I can say with a degree of certainty your doctor is not going to clear you for work a week after your C-section.. I wasn't allowed to pick up anything heavier...

failed my clinical rotation? very worried..

You're making excuses for your careless behavior.. You don't use your cell phone while you're taking care of patients (or children).. hell, even if you were flipping burgers, you wouldn't be allowed...

    twu spring 2012 applicants!

I don't recall seeing it either. They want the vaccine forms/TB test and the background/drug test done

    has anyone ever missed/skipped clinical?

You just have to consider the risk/reward ratio. Is this a true 'once in a lifetime' event? Because unless it's your wedding, or a very sick child, or dinner with the president of the U.S.A.. I can't...

    twu spring 2012 applicants!

    Took Teas did not pass

I think the acceptances are all done at the Denton campus so the competitiveness might be all about the number of spots available and applicants for each campus. 90 were accepted for Houston and 100...

    Took Teas did not pass

Absolutely- you have an excellent GPA and proficient TEAS V score. Assuming you don't have multiple retakes of the important classes, I think you have as good a shot as I did, and I got into a good...
