  1. Good luck to you all, I just graduated last Dec. from TCU and thought it a good program. I have been working for 4 months now and really enjoying life without the books. Again good luck to you guys and enjoy your freedom this summer, don't worry about studying until you get there and most important don't ever give up on your dream. GC CRNA
  2. Well it has been a long 2 and 1/2 years coming but I passed as of yesterday woohoo. All of you older guys and gals that think late forties are to late think again. I am 51 years old and glad to have done the program at such an excellant school. The test cut off at 100 and to me was very obscure but none the less I have that coveted little card and those great four little initials. Good luck students this is a great profession to be in. GC CRNA!!!!! yea
  3. You know I don't think this is such a bad program. I have enjoyed the learning experiences meeting new friends. I feel as prepared as the next person for clinicals, I am sorry for your circumstances but I don't want this to turn into a bashing a school forum. Its tough, they tell you its tough but we suck it up and make it through. I hope and pray if you don't make it you get accepted elsewhere. Good luck with the path you choose. A fellow RRNA (removed reference to school, edit by nilepoc)
  4. I want to say good luck to you all, I am just finishing up finals for the spring semester at TCU and even though it has been difficult (hard as well for my family) I have enjoyed the learning process tremendously. GC:D
  5. Thanks alot, this really helps. GC
  6. Hey thanks, I just actually came to that conclusion. GC
  7. Hey guys, does anyone have a pneumonic for the gas laws ex: boyles, charles, gay-lussacs, avogadros ect. Thanks ahead of time. GC
  8. Well, it has been almost a month since we started and man am I exhausted. Two huge tests this past week A&P and pharm boy talk about studying until your eyeballs turn inside out. How is everyone doing, if you guys have a minute to respond. I have met so many wonderful new people down here it is unbelievable. We are almost like a family in my group. Well got to go study for chem and A&P cya later. GC Its never to late to learn, but learning keeeps getttting lattteter and lattttter.:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
  9. Well I am into my 3rd week, I am sooooo tired and feel like I never sleep. I study between 8-12-14 hours somedays. all day saturday and sunday. Here the violins playing. To think I am just getting started, :chuckle :chuckle :chuckle GC
  10. I aree, I had one of the CRNA's in our group as well as the chief of the anesthesia dept and my nurse manager to write references for me. Good luck. Glenda (finally a RRNA)
  11. you know its funny we just had a army recruiter come and talk to us this week in school and he said nothing about a 75000 year stipends he did say we could get 1200 a month and possibly 1500 a month while in school. gc
  12. I wish I could help you out, but I cannot imagine any school having a vacancy. That being said, if you are fully prepared get your app in early. I am enrolled at TCU and have truly enjoyed the first week and think all the teachers are extremely helpful. The staff are always there when you need something. So my spill is this would be a good school to apply at. GC
  13. GOOD NEWS!!!! Just found out on my husbands BD that I am going to the Tulsa clinical site instead of EL PASO, with the TCU group. (I live 30 minutes away from Tulsa) woohoo:chuckle You guys have no idea what this means. First, my son can graduate from highschool with all his classmates and not have to move; second, we don't have to sell our house; and last there will be much less stress involved. God truly answers prayers. GC :balloons: :balloons: Can you tell I'm Happy!!!!
  14. you know its kind of funny you guys mentioned this cause I am going to try and keep a journal on live journal.com from beginning to end. Glenda
  15. This is my feelings as well. We all have had the opportunity to touch patients and families with our humililty and humanity and we should never leave that portion of our nursing behide us. WEll Said. GC

  17. Wow its almost here, one more 8 hour shift in PACU then off to TCU I go. Its kind of sad in a way, I have been there for over 17 years working in SICU & PACU. I have made lots of friends that are more like family than co-workers. The Docs and the O. R. gave me a going away party man lots of food with a 3 FOOT cake wow!!! I can't wait to get started, see all you guys there. G. Conn RRNA
  18. Well here are my stats that got me into TCU: age 49 (yea 49) 2 years med-surg 7.5 years SICU 9 years PACU ACLS, PALS, CCRN, CPAN Science GPA 3.8 overall GPA 3.5 something or 3.6 can't remeber for sure Miller 54 GRE 1270
  19. I agree, To many times older nurses as well as young ones tend to be mean to the nubies. I myself enjoy teaching, it is such a pleasure to see the "light bulb" come on when you feed them info that makes something click. Drugs are such an important aspect of nursing and one in which as a group we can all make a difference. You would be suprised at how many seasoned nurses do not know the chemical makeup what the contraindications, and just the safe use of the drug in general are. (scary) but that is what team work is all about. Good luck in school. Glenda
  20. They were all used and in good shape. Glenda
  21. I saved lots of money by using amazon.com. Glenda
  22. Thanks all for the postive feedback, all one can do is the best he/she is capable of. The most important thing we can have is faith in ourself. Glenda
  23. Thanks, I realize it will be extremely rough at times and it does take commitment. I really have learned alot from this forum and believe it is a valuable, tool it is just discouraging to hear alot of negativity about the school I plan on attending. Thanks for your encouragment. I hope to be one of the lucky ones. GC
  24. Ok, You guys have really got me worried about the attrition rates at TCU. I start this fall and do not need this added stress to worry about. I was feeling fairly confident until I read the previous thread. GC
