  1. Any rad-techs out there?

Hi everyone...since I have been thinking about Rad-tech, I was wondering if someone in the field could give me some advice. I initially wanted to do MRI or CT, and the hospital where I work (Jefferson in Philly), offers accelerated 1 year bachelor's...
  2. Any rad-techs out there?

Eagle, were you a radiographer first, or did you go right into radiation therapy? I mean, where I would be applying to is a huge university/hospital (Jefferson)..I can't imagine they'd offer these routes separately from radiography if you couldn't do...
  3. Any rad-techs out there?

I know, but a boy can dream can't he?
  4. Any rad-techs out there?

    :)....
  5. Medical Terminology Course

Hey everyone, So I'm not going to nursing school anymore, (I decided on Rad Tech...MRI specifically ..Jefferson's accelerated program for individuals who already have a bachelor's and the pre-reqs), but I figured I would ask this question here, since...
  6. Medical Terminology Course

I actually just decided to take it. My work will pay for the class anyway I just realized, and it could be interesting. Can't hurt, I suppose.
  7. Medical Terminology Course

Thank for your reply. I didn't attend Nursing school though, I was thinking about it, but then decided on MRI. I have a feeling it is gonna be really easy and even though it would be an easy A, I don't want to waste my time/money. Maybe I will e-m...
  8. Nursing or X ray Tech?

I just want to say thank you for your post ctnjason...I've been on the fence for a while now about whether to become a radiology tech. I wanted to be a nurse originally, and then I realized that, wait a second, I do NOT want to deal with pretty much...
  9. I was reading a post recently where several people seemed to be agitated that someone called something in nursing "medical." I understand the fields are different, but really, are they THAT different from each other? You are both providing clinical...
  10. What's the difference between medicine and nursing?

Thank you all for your responses. I can assure you, I wasn't trying to start a fight. I just honestly did not see such a huge difference, like some people make it out to be. I obviously know that the doctors diagnose and prescribe the treatment for...
  11. Starting Salaries for New Nurses in Philly

I would also like to know!
  12. I'm a male going to nursing school soon, and I don't have any worries about working on female patients whatsoever. I will do what I have to do, and if they have a problem with it, then ok, but I'm not going to be uncomfortable with any females or sa...
  13. Male Doctor vs Male Nurse and intimate female procedures

Thanks for your reply. That's kind of bothersome to me, however. I don't feel like I should have to have a female present for any procedure, especially if the patient is comfortable with me. I know it's to "cover your butt", but I feel like the on...
  14. Med-Surg to ICU?

From what I've heard (I'm not a nurse yet, will be going to school soon), you only need a year of telemetry or med-surg before you can be considered for a specialty like ICU or ER, etc. Just show interest and ask if you can observe, etc.
  15. New to ER nursing....wondering if I made a huge mistake?

Stick with it. You are definitely at a disadvantage b/c you weren't a telemetry or med-surg nurse first. Doing that for a year is a HUGE advantage b/c you see a lot of everything and get a lot of good experience. I say stick it out and just contin...
  16. 2nd bachelor's degree accelerated nursing

As long as you are in an accredited program at an accredited university, you ARE eligible for federal funding. The fact that it is a 2nd degree should have no bearing on that. Not sure why you think you aren't eligible, just fill out a FAFSA!! htt...
  17. This doesn't have anything to do with this thread, but I didn't know how else to figure this out....I am a new member and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to start a NEW thread. I obviously know how to reply to one. Can anyone help me out...
