I know 2 people that had anaphylactic shock. Survived post vaccine. Another an autoimmune disorder developed 3 weeks after vaccine. I could tell about a few other people I know that have had reactions. I am interested in learning as much as I can do pro and cons of vaccine. Weigh risk to benefit especially for children. Most people that I know that had reactions stated they did not report reaction to VAERS. I am curious how frequently adverse reactions get reported. I

So I joined this thread, partly as an observer, to see if vax refusers could be swayed..... with evidence, professionalism, science- and now I’m more depressed than ever. The comments from those of you in healthcare are particularly terrifying. It does not help that I actually really want a vaccine, and cannot get one. Yet. Our hospital’s shipments appear to be small, and delayed, and a computer algorithm is randomly deciding who gets the first ones - but hey, at least I’m in group one. Oh and guess what I woke up to? One of our state senators died of complications of covid. Please join the discussion and share the information, evidence and science. I love learning. It’s going to be along few months. Someone mentioned not researching vaccines. I have for 9 months. Maybe that’s my problem I know too much. Now I know the exact companies that manufactured vaccine I’ll spend additional time educating myself. At least once or twice a week I have a fellow nurse get upset I don’t currently want the vaccine. I am told I am a nurse I need to do it for patients. I have been told I have to or life will never go back to normal. I have to bc people are dieing from covid. I am still doing more education Currently and this weekend.

I have been trying to educate myself over the past 5 months bc I saw this coming. I have listened to podcast. They can be very informative. The Wire is especially interesting. Also listen to covid Question and Answer podcast. I read an article about covid immunization and fertility. I couldn’t find the article. When I Google looking for article all that pops up is “debunked” articles. Monday “The Wire” talked briefly about it.

In the past prior to covid. They’d say if you swab a nurses nose they’d be positive for MRSA. Now they swab asymptotic people for covid. Does anyone have a medical study that shows how viralant one is asymptotic but test positive for covid? Does your hospital do covid swabs on asymptotic hospital admits for bed assignment?

Surgical mask. I get congestion/sneezing. More days In a row I work my symptoms get worse. My pcp says I’m having an allergy to mask. I take Claritin daily now. Helped subside some of the symptoms.

We used to have 100 percent occupancy in our hospital PRE covid. Now our hospital has been around 86 percent occupant. Not many covid. April we had covid. Numbers down since April/ early May. Glad People are feeling comfortable to come to hospital again. There was fear for a long time and our e/c was like a ghost town. I have had many patients talk about anxiety regarding stress from everything going on. Hopefully in time we’ll hear about covid but also other physical Illnesses(cancer/heart disease /mental illness and etc) We have a lot of covid in state but deaths and hospitalizations down.

Saw my pcp. I have been wheezy/chest pressure/ nasal drainage/throat difficulties My pcp says I am reacting to fibers in mask. Most people I talk to looked at me as though I had a third head or questioned me that I wear my mask in public. I honestly do. Even with all the problems. Does anyone else have the same problem? I am going to pay more attention to which medical mask they give me. It used to be only n 95. Now offered yellow or blue mask. Will pay attention. I haven’t had a covid patient since April and wasn’t tolerating N 95 mask as was many staff. But I think mostly bc claustrophobia. Will be reducing hours at work. I know that will help.

Nurse SMS you are only second person who has said the same thing about claustrophobia. I thought I was alone. I am seeing my Dr this Friday for an inhaler. My question to you. Is adding the goggles to the mask. Do you feel a lot more claustrophobic adding the googles to mask? I ordered googles was n Amazon as 2 of my colleagues suggested. Not so much for claustrophobia but to see.

Our hospital system mandated if you are w/ in 6 feet of patients non-COVID or COVID face mask must be worn. I had last week off when they started the new mandate. Talked to a few nurses that prefer not wearing face mask.(steaks up and such) Curious how many hospitals are following CDC’s recommendations of googles. And is there a certain pair of goggles that work best. I would get claustrophobic and difficulty wearing a mask. But do it. I am looking forward to wearing the most suitable Google. I know when I wear just my regular glasses and a surgical mask steams up thus I have to wear contacts. Thanks so kindly for your input.

My heart goes out to you. We went through an upswing of covid patients in March/April. Our numbers are way down now. Maybe the PCT is fearful. It took some staff a while to learn they were going to be OK. Maybe she/he is unsure of steps to apply and remove PPE??? I do worry about health care. Even with care in non hospital settings.

I sometimes check this site. I always see the title. I always thought outdoors social distancing is better than locking myself in my home. I much prefer exercising in the outdoors. (Social distancing) I wish media, Dr, government won’t just preach stay home and mask up. What about eat right. Exercise. Nature is magnificent. Sorry. My church is closed to in person mass. I honestly need church and the gym.

I would love scientific peer reviewed data regarding long term mask wear. I work In procedural areas which are cooler rooms. Majority of the time is just stand and monitor patients. The days I work in procedural rooms I feel fine with a mask on 8 hours. I do find days that I work 12 hours my throat gets raspy and chest pressure when I work in non procedural areas where I do more exertional activity and need to talk a lot more. (Symptoms develop end of shift at home) I don’t know if it’s that mask need to only be worn a less amount of time. I know this is a tough topic. I always wear a mask in public. I am just talking honestly how I feel in different environments.

Sounds like your brother loves you. I would say research factual, scientific data. Discuss it with you wife and make a decision what’s best for you and your family.

It’s difficult to find articles regarding development of vaccines. I found this article a few months ago that I bookmarked. Goes over the steps and likelihood of vaccines being developed. I have since read one or two articles that are hopeful of developing a vaccine Much sooner though a few safety steps would Be shortened or skipped. From past experience vaccines took 10 years or more if a vaccine could be developed. Susie2310- When my husband called me to tell me they cancelled his appt. I contacted a dermatologist. They were seeing patients in person. When pcp called back and said telemedicine. He declined appt bc he was comcerned Dr could not see well through telemedicine and accurately diagnose lesion. He than called dermatologist and made an in person appt.

My son uses zoom for his counseling and psychiatrist appt. We’ve on two occasions had connection difficulties. On those occasions both parties had I phones. Used FaceTime. Our PCP cancelled my husbands physical and evaluation of an abnormal lesion on the surface of his skin 3 times. Last time being Friday of last week. I told my husband don’t allow them to cancel appt again. Thus he called office. At which time they offered telemedicine. I know the importance of physical exams. Auscultation of lungs and such. I personally have never used zoom. I tried once to connect w/ a group of fiends and had technical problems. But no surprise—I’m technically challenged.
