  1. I am wondering if any LPN's know if it is legal for a LPN to draw blood in NJ? If not, what class can I take so I can draw blood?

    I give up!

Once you get your foot in the door of lpn work many new doors open. This is what I have experienced anyway. Good luck to you all

    I give up!

Home Care in Manahawkin has a sign out front for hiring LPN's. Wound Care, hospice, meds admin, etc.

    I give up!

2fly I sent you an email NMlpn2rn do you live in Ocean County? I just turned down a job with Advanced Pro Home Care in Brick. It's easier getting a job a job with an agency before working for a rehab. I got lucky and my first job was in a rehab. It's not an easy job. I work with TBI, and DDD, and spinal cord injuries. One of the agencies I work for has enough LPN's. Tomorrow is my orientation for the 2nd agency so when I go there tomorrow I'll ask if their looking to hire any additional nurses. Someone that I graduated nursing school with just got hired with an agency in Whiting. Good luck, I know how much frustration I went through when looking for my first job, but once you start working, it's easier to find work.

    I give up!

Is anyone still looking for work?

    Are LPNs being phased out?

I live in New Jersey, and I got my license December 2011, I got my first nursing job full time in a rehab facility and I also work for two agencies on the side for some extra money and today I got called and offered another agency job. So I believe there is plenty of work out there for LPN's. Good Luck.

    I give up!

Good job with the job fair, but just a head's up, if you can go there before the job fair, fill out the application and drop off a copy of your resume, get the name of the DON, before the job fair. I have heard that sometimes they hire before job fairs.

    I give up!

Did you find a job? I graduated lpn school in Sept. took my boards in December and started looking for a job right after the holidays. I went every where. Knock on every door I could find with my resume in tow. Finally after 3 months of searching I was offered 2 jobs in the same week. I work full time as a lpn rehab nurse and on call hospice nurse and today I was called for a permanent weekend job. I didn't take the whole weekend, cause lets face it I need at least one day off a week, so I took the Saturday position. I feel very fortunate, and always told myself once I get one door open they will all begin to open and it seems like they are. Good luck to you and your search. If there is anything I can do please don't hesitate to ask.

    Job searching depressing!!!

Don't get discouraged. It took me 3 months to find my first job, and now I have 3. :-) I am working as much as I can so I can pay off my loans quick.... I have only been working for almost 2 months. It seems as though every door is finally opening. Good luck.

Thankful to have my first LPN job

Thanks Mazee, I am also working on the weekends for an agency. The rehab thing seems likes it is going to be a great job!
  12. After searching and being knocked down, told that I need experience, :madface:that my clinical experiences were not good enough, blah, blah, blah! :flamesonb Well I finally landed a job.:nurse::cheers::w00t::thankya: The staff are absolutely wonderful. :loveya: I just wanted to share my news with all of you. I got my license Dec. 2011 and started looking for a job shortly after that than my brother:redbeathe passed away Jan. 13 and was hospitalized one month prior to passing away. :(Between being at my brother's bedside and looking for a job, life hasn't been easy. I was offered the job last week, and I attended a meeting with the upper staff today, and I officially accepted their offer. For the LPN's out there looking for a job, be patient, be resilient, be persistent, and while your doing all of this, remember to smile, and when they ask you what is the worst thing about you, find something funny, laugh out loud, and let them see you being you!!!!!!!;) Good luck to all the nurses looking for jobs.

Thankful to have my first LPN job

I am working for a rehab facility for brain injuries and spinal cord injury patients. I also picked up some weekend and holiday work with an agency. The rehab is full time employment. Good luck in your search for a job. Someone I went to school with landed a job at a LTC facility and said hound the heck out of them and never leave a voice message. This was the advice I got.

    NJ Finger Printing Question.

you will be eligible to sit for the appropriate nclex licensing examination. however, you will not be permitted to work or be licensed as a nurse in the state of new jersey until the criminal history background check has been completed and the board of nursing has received the results." i highlighted this from your message, this is correct.

I graduated from Lincoln Tech in Moorestown, and one of my classmates was having a difficult time for work in that area so he applied for his PA license and UPENN hired him. I am so excited for him. He starts next week. As for me, I am searching for work. I have a brother who works in the healthcare system and he is helping me out looking for a lpn position.

    NCLEX Tomorrow Morning (2/2)

Congratulations to you for passing and good to luck for waiting for results on if you passed or not
  19. I am going to attend a job fair. While doing research online as to what to bring, they suggested knowing who the employers are and doing research about the companies before going there? Well I have tried to find out who these employers are and I am having no luck. Does anybody have any suggestions?

More to being a LPN than LTC?....

Was your first job in LTC? I have applied and the ones I have heard back from want a year of experience. I have a few I would like to call back and see if I can get an interview? I live in New Jersey and finding a job as a LPN is not easy at all.

New Grads - What are you doing while waiting for a job?

Hi, I took a volunteer hospice class and became certified. As I received my first case my brother took ill and volunteer coordinator ended up being there for me and my family... I have been grieving and taking care of gathering his information for his estate, while looking for a job at the same time. It isn't easy, but there are not enough hours in a day. Some days their are too many hours in a day. I really would like to find a job soon since my unemployment has run out!!!! Good luck to all searching for a job.
