I just want to send a big thank you to all the nurses on the front line working with COVID patients. My husband of 43 years passed away recently from complications of COVID on 12/16/2020. I could not be with him until the decision was made not to continue treatment. His body just couldn’t fight anymore. The nurses who took care of him were amazing. They made sure he was well taken care of medically and personal care. I felt that since I couldn’t be with him, he was most definitely in great hands. The night he passed was tremendously difficult for me and the nurses were very professional and compassionate and I was very grateful. I no longer can work bedside and I respect the heck out of those who do!! Thank you!!

Hummmm I did MDS for 8 years. Was required to be on call and work med carts, charge nurse etc., several times per month. Which involved direct patient care. Also MDS is lots of paperwork and chart review, also it is necessary to interview residents, staff, and possibly perform some ADL care to ensure you are documenting correctly. Compared to direct nursing it is less direct patient involvement. Lots of collaboration with staff in many areas of the facility and with family members throughout the month.

When I worked with a Urologist he wanted to see documentation such as “ urine is bright cherry red in color, is tea colored, is light pink in color, thick red clots noted in urine. Etc.

I walked into a pretty dark pt room to do something, can’t remember what, and when I neared the end of the bed, I said oops excuse me. The pt was s double amputee and his legs were standing up in the corner. I thought it was another person. Lol

I work for a managed care group as a remote worker. I do find that I tend to get involved in what I’m doing and work longer than I should. I still am not good at making sure I take breaks I love the autonomy and even the solitude. Ita a good job with good pay and benefits

This happened at a facility I worked. The staff didn’t change anything about how brief changes were done or used. After a month or so, we were told we were doing great at saving $$. ?

They were on a talk show and I don’t remember which one. The results were that some sibs had native, European and others were Asian and Western European.

Not to be mean, but you don’t have the experience to work for lnsurance company. The positions there require multidisciplinary experience for years. NOT someone who is looking for it as an easy out, which is what I got from your post above. Find something, anything in the nursing field and KEEP the job for a year or more. LTC would give the opportunity to develope terrific time management skills. You would need to be great in interpersonal relationships with patients, staff, doctors and family members. Home health, case management, hospice all need staff with experience, preferably in several areas. Not good choices for new nurses.

I have many many times in a SNF, been the only licensed nurse, on day shift, for upto 60 PTs. With CMT to pass meds and 2-3 CNAs. It is hard!!!

I heard of 6 siblings with same mother and father, and all 6 had totally different results. I guess I’m a skeptic.

Buy an electronic stethoscope so you will have easier time when auscultations heart or lung sounds. Some can also accommodate using with heating aids.

oh heck yeah they can do it. You are hired for the facility, not a specific unit. I once was sent to 3 different units in the first 1/2 of my shift before they sent back to my usual unit. A write up- yep. Could also fire you for insubordination if you refuse. SNFs and NF are very much difficult to survive in.

I'm sorry but I find it incredibly-- can't find a nice term here- amazing that the day after you were positive- you got drunk. What were you thinking? Oh you weren't that's right. It's not your fault? Did you not consider that they might test you soon? Oh that's right, you were upset hummm good reason?! And what the heck ? About donating blood? Do you think you can just donate the etoh positive blood and be clean again?! Ok I don't understand. You made a bad choice and continue to make bad choices. Hopefully counseling and other forms of assistance may help you if you really really want the help. Yes I did the whole drug program thing after taking a med from a family member that I thought I had an RX for, but what I had was another similar med. Went through the entire thing with UDS etc. and I petitioned for early out and was granted it since I did not mess around with the potentials of food/fluids/ alcohol pads anything that might influence the test negatively. Until you admit you have a problem, looks like you may continue making bad choices.

Ok. This does sound odd. Of course as a nurse you surely know that she wasn't covering her lady parts( internal) but her labia and pubic mound. It's a pet peeve of mine to hear professions calling the outer girlie bits by inner girlie bits name.

FWIW- not every complaint to BON results in license issues. Many times they decide its unfounded and drop it all together. Or they decide to do a written letter to you that it is a written warning and has no probation etc with it.

I have worked for a managed care organization for over 4 years. I work from home, and I completely love it!!!! I think it would be hard with little kids in the home , you would need daycare I would think, for your working hours. Hubby and I are older with grown children, so no problems there. The only issue I see is that by working in your home, it is hard for family members to just expect you can do xyz for them. It's like, well you are home you can do blah blah blah. I love my job!!!! For real!!!

Let's see: 6 yrs working in a factory-before I became a nurse, 10 years med surg 8 years SNF and so far 4 1/2 years working for an insurance company!!

While in school for LPN, i worked 40hour weeks went to school 8-5 5 days a week. And between the two I drive 20 hours per week. I was thrilled with 2-3 hours sleep at a time!! I had a hubby and two kids 11 and 12 at the time. Boy howdy it was tough!!! in school for ASN I worked full time and the classes were part time through Regents college. I did take 3 years to complete my degree, but in doing that, I had very little student debt. It can be done.
