At least I hope this feeling is normal...
Im in the same situation. I have at least 48 residents on every shift, and I work as part time in 3 different units, so I can't really keep up with what's going on. I don't know what's going to happen everytime I walk into the unit. I got 6 days orientation and that's it. All I can promise is to finish the med pass, and charting. I rarelly had time for dressings and never had time to do MDS. I guess everyone experience these thing at the begining, just try your best!

Long Term Care Wage for RN
Thank you for the reply. I think my problem is I don't understand how union works. Because we are all under the same union and pay same amount of union dues. It's with ONA and ONA has a stander for RN wages, how come their contract doesn't follow the stander? I've being to other homes and they offered me 29.36 and they are under ONA. At first I thought this 26 thing is a mistake, because the union rep told me to show her my offer, if this is mistake they can fix it. But when I saw the contract I knew that's what I will get. I'm not complaining about it, but I want to know how union works, how come it allows the employer to pay nurses less than the minimum wage for RN that they posted?

Long Term Care Wage for RN
I'm a new grad and I'm currently working as part time at a nursing home and my hourly pay is 26 plus in lieu of benifit 8.5%, which is less than the ona wage standard. The place I work has ona representive and the collective contract says to pay entre level RN $26+ 8.5% lieu of benifit. I'm just wondering why we are with the union and we get paid less? We pay a huge union fee every month and the hourly rate is much less than others. I think this nursing home is privately owned, does that make a difference?

Anyone worked at First health care?
I see you all the time~ I feel like I know you already~~lol The position is called private duty, basically they might send me everywhere, nursing home, hospital, home, or clinic. The interview was not what I expected at all, they just said they can't hire ppl on temp license. I guess I'll hear back when I get my license.

Anyone worked at First health care?
Since I never hear back from hosipitals I started to send my resume to agencies and TLC. This week I got my first interview ever for a nursing job at first health care. Wondering how it's like working for this agency, they didn't give me a chance to ask questions~

New graduate RN need help with resume!
Hi, I'm a new graduate RN from Toronto (still waiting for exam results tho), now I want to focus on finding a position in Long Term Care. I have beeing sending resumes out through HFO and some other sites since FEB, I haven't get any call yet. My resume and cover letter were edited by ppl in caree centers many times and they said they are great. However I don't think they are experienced in Nursing resume. Could anyone give me some tips about resume and cover letters? What should I do to get a chance for interview? Thank you so much!
