  1. Where do you work?

As a newbie to the forums, as well as only having a newfound interest in the nursing field, I'm curious about what type of atmospheres and job descriptions exist for RNs. I'm wondering if RN's primarily work in hospitals at bedsides, or is there a mu...
  2. MCC - uniform color/style?

    Thank you!
  3. MCC - uniform color/style?

I am hoping to be accepted in the nursing program at Macomb Community College in fall of 2011. I am also planning on buying a pair of scrubs for a Halloween costume this year. Maybe this is a silly question, but what color and style does MCC require ...
  4. MCC - uniform color/style?

Thank you so much for your help! :wink2: I think I'll just buy a really cheap pair for now to use for my costume, and I'll wait on the school-specific ones.
  5. MCC - uniform color/style?

Thank you :) Do they have to be purchased from that website, or is it possible to find them cheaper elswhere? Do they have to be that brand?
  6. MCC - Nursing Students Starting 2009

Wow, they must be keeping you students busy, it seems all the updates disappeared with the beginning of the semester! Just wanted to say that I'm not yet a part of the MCC nursing program, but I hope to be soon, and I've been keeping tabs on this thr...
  7. Phlebotomy Classes in Michigan

Macomb Community College offers a Phlebotomy Certificate, and also has a Continuing Education phlebotomy program with a practicum.
  8. if i decided to be a doctor, i would be.....

CharlieT: Out of curiosity, what makes you say that?
  9. I Finally Did it...I Wrote to Oprah!

I just hope at very least she'll feature a special just showing the public what a nurse's job REALLY entails. Far too many people don't understand how hard nurses really work and that they really go through difficult schooling for it. Oprah is a grea...
  10. Sounds like something I should have written! I'm in the exact same spot, and wondering the same type of things, so I'll be watching this thread.
  11. if i decided to be a doctor, i would be.....

If I ever actually decided to go through with it an become a doctor, I would be an OB/GYN. Or an anesthesiologist since they make soooo much money. Possibly a surgeon. Just 'cuz it'd be fun to cut people open. Haha.
  12. Beaumont Hospital

I was actually born there, and I'm interested in becoming an RN and working there in one of the mother-baby areas, so I'm also curious to hear from people who work for Beaumont, especially Royal Oak.
  13. I'm fairly new to the boards, and I've been posting stupid questions here and there because I don't know much about the medical field or nursing yet. I have been thinking about entering a nursing program at my local community college to become a regi...
  14. Thinking about becoming an RN, need advice.

I probably should have clarified a bit... I'm concerned about how difficult it is to be picky, meaning I see a lot of job postings for med-surg and general pools, and I'm wondering if I might end up having no choice but to apply for something like th...
  15. Are you employed part-time or full-time? What kind of work schedule do you have? How long are you shifts? What kind of benefits do you get? I'd like to know how common it is to be a part-time RN, and how the salary/wage differs from being full-time.
  16. Are you part-time or full-time?

OMCRN84 that sounds ideal to me, I'm glad to hear that sort of thing exists. I'd love to only work two days a week. :)
  17. Are you part-time or full-time?

RNperdiem: What does per diem mean exactly? Sorry, I'm not even into nursing school yet and don't really know anything about the medical field. ONCRN84: You work 48 hours a week, but you're part-time? I'm sorry, I don't really understand what you mea...
  18. Nurses in OB/GYN

I'm curious to know what your job entails, how much you make, and what kind of schedule you work. I would like to get into the women's health field, but I don't think I want to spend my RN years in other areas in a hospital while I'm waiting to get i...
  19. OB/GYN RN jobs outside of the hospital?

I'm really curious about this as well, so I thought I'd bump it.
  20. Maybe this is a dumb question, because I am only just thinking about going to school for a career in nursing (specifically something in women's health, like a nurse-midwife), but is an RN generally a full-time, on-call type of position? Or is it fair...
