  1. How often can you take the NCLEX?

Do you have to wait so many days, and are you limited to so many times a year, etc.?
  2. Are they giving the new format already?

For NCLEX-RN, that is? I'm terribly frightened to take this in December with the "choose all the correct answers" format. How is it? :sofahider
  3. Are they giving the new format already?

Yay! So I can keep my old and my new book and study both.
  4. Are they giving the new format already?

So the whole thing isn't going to be that way? Just some of the questions?
  5. What is Considered Passing at Your School??

75% on everything but the drug dosage, and that is 80% in 3 tries, which each semester increases to a higher percent with less tries.
  6. Nursing School: Easier or Harder?

I thought it would be very hard, also. It's not too hard, just time consuming is the biggest issue. I think it's easier than most of my pre-reqs, probably b/c I find it so interesting and I enjoy it. It goes by FAST. I can't believe in 6 weeks I'...
  7. Any APA experts out there?

I've just finished my term paper. I'm confused on the difference between a running head and a page header. It sounds like they're the same, only one's on the left of the page, and one's on the right with the page number. Can someone explain? Than...
  8. I'm graduating early!

To save clinical spots later, our instructors offered some of us summer spots. (We were supposed to be off). I get to go, so I'll graduate in December instead of next May.
  9. Any APA experts out there?

I have the APA guide, I'm still confused though. I need a summary of the title on the left of each page, and a summary with the page number on the right of each page? That just doesn't seem right to me.
  10. websites for healthcare professionals

I have to write my term paper soon. All of our references must come from sources that are not intended for use of the general public. I'm doing my paper on chemo/radiation therapy. Everything I find is for the general public, other than specific d...
  11. websites for healthcare professionals

Articles for information and reference is what I need. I do have a college library- I'll have to look there as well.
  12. We aren't even allowed to use the word non-compliant. It's too negative. That bothers me, just like the word client instead of patient! They will always be my patients! I'm taking care of them, not cutting their hair!
  13. Shaving cream bed baths?

I haven't seen shaving cream used for baths, but I have seen people squirt some into a basin full of water to clean bm. It really helps with the smell.
  14. I got my first D!

Last semester, my finals were one A and two Bs. I just took my second test (second semester now) in med-surg, I did study, but got a 70 (D)! I know C=RN but D does not. Yikes....I better hit the books hard for next week. What a blow! :selfbonk...
  15. You know you are in nursing school when ctxt

Your car is full of clothes, books, fast food trash- it looks like you're living out of it. Wait, you are. :)
  16. finding it hard to pass

I just got the Lippincott NCLEX review and it's wonderful for those type questions. When studying, tape record lectures and listen to them in your car. I also write my notes onto cards b/c writing helps me remember. Good luck!
  17. Lots of questions and need advise about becoming a CNa

A hands-on class would definitely be better. You shouldn't have any problems finding a cna position, they're also in high demand. I know some nursing homes will hire you without your certification, and pay to train you for it, but I prefer hospital...
  18. Is it uncommon for nurses to scrub?

I'm a student nurse, and sat in the OR last week. I loved it, but the RNs circulated, and the techs scrubbed. I would love to work in OR if I could scrub; not interested in circulating. Is it different everywhere? Thanks
  19. How to prevent fainting???

My instructor wondered the same thing! My poor man was not even sedated, just an injection for local numbness. The doctor told him he would feel "discomfort". From a metal tube being jammed into your sternum????? I think it got to me so bad b/c h...
  20. Drug cards...

A lot of people last semester were copying and pasting off here: http://www.nursespdr.com/ Or purchasing the pre-printed cards and typing off them.
  21. Is it uncommon for nurses to scrub?

Thanks- I hadn't thought about trying both! My current clinical site has a lot of roux-en-y (I think that's how you spell it!) procedures, and I'm amazed that they can do that laparoscopically!
  22. Zicam is a lifesaver...

You take it when you first feel a cold coming on. It's supposed to decrease your duration and the sx. I felt that tickle in my throat last week, so I figured I'd try since I can't miss clinical! I bought the nasal gel. You put in in your nose q4 ...
  23. question about foley catheter insertion

I see this happen ALL the time. I questioned a nurse about it, and she told me they were expensive. :angryfire
  24. You know you are in nursing school when ctxt

When your dh learns for the first time in 7 years of marriage how to find himself his own dinner....
  25. Hi Iam new here

A lot of hospitals will help you. You could also do weekend option. A lot of hospitals offer that. You work 2 12 hr. shifts between Friday and Monday, and get paid for 36 hours plus benefits.
