Hi I have been traveling as HH/Hospice nurse for several years and had a recent itch to maybe try correctional. Do I need a year in corrections to travel? Thanks, J
Fyi- i just found out that a bill to add Indiana to the Nursing compact state license agreement has passed the Indiana senate and is in house committee. They have until April to decide. If it passes the house it will go into effect July 1st. This wou...
Hi, I am working in HH and I love the actual work, it is the charting that drives me crazy. My supervisors keep changing my OASIS/ assesment answers to ones that just aren't true, especially in functional scores. I am guessing that the aagency gets p...
Hello all, I am currently in the FNP program at IWU and the one thing that has me considering not finishing us the freaking portfolio. I am not stupid by any means. I carried honors in my other masters, on nursing school and currently in the FMP pro...
Hi has anyone heard of using santyl as part of a wet to dry dressing? As in applying the santyl then putting wet gauze over it then covering it with a foam dressing?!
Geeze, scanning too fast and misread it as How many NP's does it take to diagnose a patient? I thought it was a joke, like how many politicians does it take to screw in a light bulb! Actually, I think I like mine better. So- what do you think? How m...
Hi, I am about 9 months into the 2.5 year FNP program at Indiana Wesleyan and I feel like I am repeating high school and undergrad. In the last nine months we have covered the three branches of government and their duties (high school civics), how t...

Hi! Good to hear from another admitted student! I am just starting what looks to be a challenging stretch- biostats to pharm to advanced path...but honestly at least it is pertinent, unlike writing about the three branches of the federal government. ...
Hi, just starting in HH and looking for apps that would allow me to track number of visits per day, oncall days/pay, total mileage, business expenses, etc. This agency pays .25 per mile and subtracts 42 miles per day that they consider to/from work. ...

I thought so too! Makes sense to me, but, no. When I worked for hospice and had a lot of local patients, I could not get paid at all for mileage a lot of days. In this job, (HH) I can easily drive 85 miles to my first patient, 85 home, and maybe 10-1...

They subtract 21 miles commute to work and 21 miles from work. The last place I worked it was 18 miles each way. My commute was 2.5 miles, so I had to wat the rest of the mileage.

Hi, The nurses at my for-profit hospice are now required to have marketing territories on top of our other duties. We are responsible for getting the facilities to give us admissions. We are supposed to be sales people. If I had wanted to be a marke...
Get organized! That's true for all nursing. There's a lot of paperwork/documentation in hospice, to the point that sometimes it feels like all I do is do paper/computer work.
I am not sure how to describe this, and am considering what to do. There is a nurse at our hospice who has a long history of coming into conflict with coworkers, filing complaints, and what is worse, saying that patients are complaining. Various nurs...
Hi, Any NP's here working in Palliative Care/Hospice? I am currently working in hospice and was wondering if it was worth it to get my NP. If you are, what kind of NP degree did you get? What does your day/work life look like? What does an NP do in h...
