Reading these posts while eating yogurt is not a great idea. As a wound specialist, not much bothers me. But there are times when horrible toe nails and gunk in the beard will do me in!!!

I agree with margo533, wet to dry dressings are not the thing to do - but try and tell the MD's, vascular docs and plastics docs about it. Difficult to believe that in this day and age the wet to dry dressings are still being used.

Best practice stated that if heel eschar is black and dry, just leave the areas alone. Keep the heel off of the bed is of utmost importance. If the eschar starts to separate and/or drain, then you are almost obligated to use santyl. Good luck!!
