  1. Nurse's Week Gifts from Employers

Special meals each day for each shift, t-shirts, bags, personalized thank you card, $$.
  2. This week I discovered the joys of compression socks.
  3. Almost there!

Congratulations on your accomplishment. Good luck with NCLEX.
  4. Yellow Sashes for Med Passes

I work in LTC and no thank you to sashes of any kind. IMO, they are ridiculous in any setting.
  5. Are you jealous of other nurses jobs/abilities?

    In a word, no.
  6. ixchel, I am sending quick recovery wishes your way. I learned that a friend gave my name to the DON at the facility where she works and now that DON will not stop sending emails asking me to go and meet with her. It is a great facility, not for prof...
  7. What offends you (nursing related)?

The "nobody trained me/showed me how to do this or that" excuse to not doing your job especially when you've been working at the facility a year! Being told in report how a resident is so so sick and has been declining since the reporting nurse start...
  8. 04/09 WILTW: Confused LOLs

I learned that I posted my WILTW post on last week's thread. That's what I get for posting after a sleepless night. I learned that I really do love AN.
  9. What is your Nursing Kryptonite?

Feet, anything to do with feet. Also respiratory secretions, I am one of the many who hates suctioning. I couldn't even use those bulb syringes to suction the snot out of my babies noses when they had colds without gagging. Blech.
  10. The film: Vaxxed.

First world problems for sure. I am an immigrant from one such country and I can not fathom choosing to not vaccinate my children. I just can't. It is truly mind boggling.
  11. 4/2 WILTW: Disney Edition

ixchel, I am sending you good wishes and thoughts and prayers (if that's ok). I am so sorry things are so tough for you right now.
  12. 4/2 WILTW: Disney Edition

So sorry things have been so tough at work. The reason I stay at the LTC where I work, even though I would earn more at other nearby facilities, is because of my DON/ADON. They are amazing. I have worked for crappy bosses/managers in my non-nursing d...
  13. 4/2 WILTW: Disney Edition

I learned that I am in awe of the many intelligent and smart posters in that monstrous vaccine thread who are fighting the pseudo science and other nonsense with actual science and a lot of patience. Kudos to all of them, they rock. I learned that I...
  14. LTC is Great

Thank you so much for this post. Much appreciated by this LTC nurse.
  15. I learned that I will be able to swing a part-time schedule this summer financially and my boss has given me the OK. I will also not be taking any summer classes. I have made plans to travel overseas with my girls during the summer. I am excited. I l...
  16. LTC's are a joke

I wish I could like this a thousand times. Thank you my fellow LTC nurse for this.
  17. The worst job you had before becoming a Nurse?

    No tell motel maid.
  18. Scheduling nurses to work as CNAs?

I have worked a CNA in LTC and I have nothing but respect for the CNAs. I prefer to work as a nurse not a CNA so I'd let my feet do the talking if I were in OP's position. For the record, I have gone in and worked as an aide during blizzard like cond...
  19. study group or nah?

Nah is my vote. At my school the mantra was always "you must be in a study group to pass" but I proved them wrong.
  20. LPN or BSN

Are you in any rush to enter the job market? Do you need a solid paycheck to support yourself while in school? If not, then buckle down and do the BSN. If yes, then perhaps the LPN can be a stepping stone to the RN/BSN. If you go the LPN route first,...
  21. The sloppy image of nurses today

As a General Hospital fan, this cracks me up. Sure its easy to look beautiful with the flowing hair when you don't have to do actual nursing work and have a makeup department to touch you up between filming takes.
  22. Struggling NEW Nurse at LTC with questions

Yikes - I definitely would not have found that kind of pressure helpful at all when I was a very new nurse. So sorry that is happening to you. There are many wonderful experienced LTC nurses in these parts and I hope they chime in with some advice. ...
  23. I learned that one of my favorite co- workers is resigning to deal with a very serious medical diagnosis. I will miss her dearly. Happy 2nd year as a nurse to me. Except I am not exactly happy with said job at the moment. This week I have had too man...
  24. New Grad LPN getting frustrated!!!

Are you being realistic? Are other new grad LPNs in your state of GA really earning $20 right out of school?
