  1. Army Nurse Corps Reserves...

Lighten up spaz, get a sense of humor! You have obviously never been involved in a loan repayment program of any significant amount, so listen to someone who has and has friends who have, but I doubt you are any good at listening, so this is directed...
  2. Army Nurse Corps Reserves...

Thanks for the input but if money is your sole motivation for joining the service or anything including moving to florida, then you will probably not be happy. BTW loan repayment is also income and you will pay taxes on it whether it comes from the a...
  3. Army Nurse Corps Reserves...

I hope this helps, if new information is out there, someone correct me. [quote=Renee4christ;279780 1. Since I have 2 years left before I finish school, will the strap program allow me to finish school without interruption (i.e. deployments) ? IT IS ...
  4. CAC card reader

In order to secure identity, the military used a CAC (common access card or your military ID) with a chip that has information that can be read by a CAC reader. When you get your ID you will punch in a passcode. That will be used to access certain ar...
  5. Army CRNA

I just went thru the process and can help if you want to contact me. 1. If you want to get into the active duty USAGPAN school then yes...you have to apply for active duty, a whole separate commission procedure. You can turn it down if you get accep...
  6. CAC card reader

yes, once you get one, follow the CAC card reader directions on the AKO site (I assume all other service branches have this like the army) and load the software (check which version of windows you have, xp, vista, 32 or 64 bit, etc.) and reboot your ...
  7. Army Reserves

I have been in school as enlisted army reserves while finishing my LPN to ASN and as officer while getting my BSN. You can enlist now before you finish school but will have to pay them time for any bonus or college money and may slightly hamper the c...
  8. December army reserve boards

    1) you should be able to use STRAP to get your MSN ($1600 a month while enrolled at least 1/2 time). Owe the service 2 year for every one afterwards. TA is only there until the funds run out and you may not get it. You can not use it while using STRA...
  9. CRNA army/airforce

The air force is much more competitive for active aCRNA slots than the army. I think there are only around 4 AF slots to over 30 for the army at USAGPAN. The AF can help pay for CRNA school with a stipend and tuition with a 3 or 4 year payback active...
  10. Question about commission

I have never seen problems like this in the Army. I have enlisted once active, then out, then again reserves, then commission reserves, then commission for active duty to include CRNA school and it never took this long. I would not know what to say b...
  11. CAC card reader

You can go thru the 'slick deals for service members" link at AKO. In the scrolling box, at the right end of it. I got one for $20 something dollars and it works just fine at home. Had to download the software from AKO also and make sure you get the ...
  12. Joining the army to obtain my RN or BSN??

I did the same route due to having a family and the cost too. Once you get that license, many hospitals will also help pay for you to finish BSN as well as the military. The Army is the only service that allows ASN's to be nurses though.
  13. December AMEDD Board

It is total active duty, full pay and all benefits (2 1/2 yrs of school with 4 1/2 payback time). Family is included all on moves as they are PCS's. Phase I at Ft. Sam, Phase II at either Hood, Bliss, Sam, Gordon, Lewis, Tripler, Walter Reed. They t...
  14. Short Staffed, Narc Thieves, Piles Of Paperwork

I would leave before someone sets you up since you are not "in on it". We had one narc incident in our ER, got investigated by BND, now our entire hospital has to count the complete PIXIS twice a day. I don't know how this continues where you work un...
  15. Joining the army to obtain my RN or BSN??

Thats great. BTW there is a program for other active duty officers to get schooled to become an RN and switch over to the ANC. I just don't know why they don't have better program for reserved enlisted or civ's willing to serve after school like they...
  16. CRNA, ARMY program

There are not as many direct accession slots for CRNA school as there are for current active duty. They look at GPA, GRE (would like over 1000/3.5), references, recommendation of phase II director, experience (I do not know if NICU counts but the inf...
  17. December AMEDD Board

Thanks! It is competitive but the Army is short and stays short so they need you as bad as most want it. With rthe eserves you can go to CCC as a 1LT as long as you have complete phase I online. CCC-RC is held once a year in the summer at a college i...
  18. Joining the army to obtain my RN or BSN??

I think this was referencing the fact someone wanted to go active reserves officer after ASN to make more money while getting BSN. Yes, that is what AGR is (active guard/reserves). You can go AGR but the number of people that are AOC 66H (nurses) tha...
  19. December army reserve boards

Yes the RC AMEDD board meets once a year around January. The results take some time to get posted (3 months or more). 60 days out, if you are eligible, your AKO account will have your board file posted to show what records the board will look at. It ...
  20. Advice for an aspiring CRNA?

Every school is different and depends on how competitive they are. For the most part = GPA over 3.0, GRE over 900-1000/3.5, minimum one year (if not longer) good critical care experience, glowing interview and reccommendations. NOt all schools requi...
  21. December army reserve boards

LPN count for nothing as the army does not even see them as a nurse (chaps my ass too! - I had 10 plus years as an LPN to include active duty) RN years divided by 2 equals constructive credit years which account to time in grade, so you should have 8...
  22. November/December AMMEDD Board

Hooah! Get used to your arm "wear"ing out from saluting at ft sam.
  23. Joining the army to obtain my RN or BSN??

You can not go active duty with an ADN, only in reseves and NG. You must have a BSN to go active. But you can be activated or go AGR in the reserves and NG with your commission and still get the same pay and benefits. There are also very few AGR slot...
  24. December AMEDD Board

Yes Captain's course, it is 9 weeks for active nurses. I go from mid March to mid May 2009 then report to CRNA school 01 June. I called the recruiter in early February and was all complete and in for the school by the end of May or early June I think...
  25. PICC line?

Be careful with flushing dopamine/dobutamine. I don't recommend doing that!:redpinkhe yes I found that out the hard way!! Patient was no longer on Dopamine and stopped before I took over but was still apparently in one port line. The flushed one port...
