  1. As of right now, I think I want to go to SU over UW because I like the social justice themes and community emphasis of their program, but it is terribly expensive. I know 2nd degree students don't get that much aid, but I was just wondering...for any...
  2. Pre-Nursing students what has been

Luckily, I don't think my program will require me to take organic chemistry...otherwise, that would probably be my hardest. Microbiology seems to be the toughest now. Some parts are interesting, but I can do without the cellular background informatio...
  3. Anyone in North Seattle Community College LPN-RN

I heard that if you're in good standing after the 2nd quarter of the LPN program, then you're allowed to progress straight away into the RN program. It's probably indicative that we may see a full ADN program at North Seattle in the near future. I'm ...
  4. Not too bad...all things considered. Also, finishing up my last quarter of prerequisites. I'm taking micro and actually am somewhat enjoying it. Our first exam was last week and I honestly felt a little blindsided. I've never had "circle all that app...
  5. NEED HELP- Trying to apply for Nursing school

It wasn't until my fourth and last year of undergrad that I decided I wanted to apply to nursing school. I just went ahead and graduated from my university and decided to take my prereqs at my local community college. I think that was somewhat of a p...
  6. Were you CPR certified before you applied?

I would get it anyway, just to make your application more competitive. I took CPR/AED training for the Professional Healthcare Provider through the American Red Cross. It covered infants, children, and it was a 8-hour course.
  7. Thanks guys. I think I'm going to try and balance out both. I'll probably accept the new position and decrease my hours on the float pool so that I can still work it. Many thanks to the both of you!
  8. Hey guys, I've been a float CNA in a local hospital for awhile now and I absolutely love it. I love going around and meeting nurses and doctors and love being able to watch various procedures from all different specialties and disciplines. I feel lik...
  9. Tips on passing CNA Test! please...

Try this: http://asisvcs.com/publications/pdf/069912.pdf I'm not sure where you can get a book. Have you tried searching amazon? I'm sure they have some books there. I'm confused how you can sit for the written, when you're not enrolled in a CNA cour...
  10. Which School do you recomend?

Shoreline, indeed, has a great reputation and is known to be very rigorous. I've heard they're tougher on their nurses than UW's program. North Seattle is definitely a great place for prereqs as well. They have a LPN program and then a ladder to do t...
  11. Tips on passing CNA Test! please...

If I remember correctly, the pamphlet has some sample written questions. I took my CNA course at the Shoreline Nursing Assistant Training Institute. A textbook was provided to us that was written by the instructor. I mostly just reviewed that. At the...
  12. Tips on passing CNA Test! please...

Thank you, I forgot to mention that hand washing is definitely one of them. Make sure you scrub your hands on all surfaces for at least 15 seconds, dry your hands thoroughly, turn off the facet with a paper towel, etc. I think there may be more than ...
  13. Tips on passing CNA Test! please...

When I took it, I think there were 15 skills that we had to know. It's not so much that you do each skill in the correct order, but make sure you always do the steps that are bolded outlined in the official pamphlet that the state proctors use. These...
  14. WSU BSN program

I've noticed there are very little threads about WSU's program, yet they accept more BSN candidates than other school in Washington (I think around 200). Does anyone have any insight or experiences to share about their program? Thanks!
  15. Um...if I never have to look into another bright-light compound microscope again after this quarter, then my life will be complete.
  16. Seattle University APNI

Hi everyone, I'm curious to know how you all are liking the program. I'm seriously considering applying for Summer 2010. I am appreciative of any insight you guys can give. Thanks!
  17. I did some at Everett, but then I was in Seattle most of the summer, so I did an intensive summer quarter of A&P1 and A&P2 at North Seattle. In the fall, I am finishing micro at North Seattle as well. Good luck to you!
  18. Too many people trying to get an ABSN?

I wouldn't worry too much about it. I think most people may opt for cheaper alternatives than a ABSN, such as an ADN or a traditional BSN given the state of the economy. It seems like most people will want to leave nursing school with as little debt ...
  19. what nursing school do/did you attend?

Applying to the University of Washington and Seattle University this next application period. Been accepted to Drexel ABSN so far, but have it differed for now. I also have a couple ADN programs in the Seattle area in mind as well.
  20. Keeping CNA license current in WA

Congratulations on passing! I think all you do is just keep sending in your renewal fee every year. I'm pretty sure the department of health sends you a notice in the mail to send your annual renewal fee during your birthday month.
  21. How to Pay for 2nd Degree?!?!

I am in the same predicament as well. There's three programs that I plan to apply to...one is a well-respected ADN program that is super cost-efficient, but I really want a BSN. The other program I want to apply to is a private school that has a grea...
  22. Trying to decide between different schools...

I've heard Seattle U is very generous with financial aid. Some nurses that I've spoken to that went there said it cost them just as much as if they had gone to UW because they were able to get a lot of financial aid from the school. Another option is...
  23. Chemistry is the bane of my existence.
  24. UW or WSU RN-BSN?

I see, I wasn't aware that WSU had an on-site program as well.
  25. Accelerated vs. Traditional BSN - what should i do?

I'm sort of facing the same dilemma. For me, it came down to location too. My area has only one accelerated program, and they're about to admit their very first class. It's about twice as much as the traditional program, so I would have graduated wit...
