  1. NCLEX application. Bipolar ?

Hi everyone. Next Thursday is my pinning ceremony!!!! I've finally done it. I've graduated from a practical nursing program. Herein lies the problem. I printed off the NCLEX-PN application to send to boards and one of the questions is to check yes o...
  2. NCLEX application. Bipolar ?

I see your point PaulW. Whether it's stereotype or statistic, they require this information. I am curious as to how many nurses in this country have ever dealt with Bipolar disorder or depression, or other mood disorders..... I bet those numbers woul...
  3. NCLEX application. Bipolar ?

I'm not afraid of them denying my licensure at all. I know too many nurses that are on medication for a mental health reason. My thing is that I don't want to do anything to make this whole process longer than it has to be. Providing documentation, l...
  4. NCLEX application. Bipolar ?

    :argue: Seriously guys.
  5. NCLEX application. Bipolar ?

Sorry, didn't mean to confuse everyone by interchanging the BON and the NCLEX people. I see how it changes the views because NCLEX doesn't 'need' to know. But don't lie to BON. Is this correct?
  6. NCLEX application. Bipolar ?

Ohio BON home site. Left hand side links- FORMS. Halfway down the page- NURSE LICENSURE BY EXAM/ENDORSEMENT. Then EXAMINATION APPLICATION. It's question number 7.
  7. NCLEX application. Bipolar ?

Okay. Stanley and Paul W. obviously don't agree on this issue. However I'm actually more confused now than when I was before posting. Between ADA, HIPPA, and BON references. So.... if I admit I have a diagnosis, provide a medication list and physicia...
  8. NCLEX application. Bipolar ?

Thanks for responding. I thought the same thing. If I say yes, I'm not sure what will happen. If I say no (because it is hippa, and I know I am a safe, effective nurse) isn't that lying to the people that hold my world in their hands?
  9. What's Your Best Nursing Ghost Story?

I was working as an aide in a long term care facility a couple years ago, midnight shift. We turned most of the lights off in the hallways so the residents could sleep. It was always a little creepy walking down the hallways anyway. But one night I w...
  10. Last minute advice before the stick

:bluecry1:The time has come!!!!!! I've read all I can, every textbook, website, allnurses sticky forum, every class note, everything I could get my hands on. I do my first real IV stick this week and everything I've learned does nothing to help me ...
  11. Last minute advice before the stick

Thanks everyone! The IV specific clincal got pused back until next friday. I haven't decided if that is good or not yet. More time to stress!!! Thanks for taking the time to help calm my fears. (A nearly impossible task.) Keep 'em coming.
  12. will you guys tell me what you think of my pinning speech?

    Love it!!!!
  13. Electrolyte question

When studying the differences of hypo- and hypernatremia, I'm confused as to why hyponatremia(low sodium) would cause hypertension. I know that when sodium shifts out of the cells, water goes in to compensate causing edema, increased blood volume and...
  14. Electrolyte question

Thank you so much for that post. I feel retarded for even asking that :) Thank you though!
  15. Need help with psychosocial NANDA!!!

Here is a link to this site's terms of service in relation to sharing information. You may describe your patients diagnosis and maybe general statements. But never give out any identifiable information. https://allnurses.com/forums/info.php?do=term...
  16. Need help with psychosocial NANDA!!!

Are you only looking for psychocsocial aspects of the surgery? My thoughts: Personal Identity disturbance or Sexual Patterns altered
  17. in need of a hearing impaired stethscope!

I don't know the extent of your hearing loss, but I have 50% conductive hearing loss in one ear and do well with a Littman Classic SEII. Love it.
  18. Help!!!!!

:no:I need help! I am making drug cards for my clinical patient this week and can't find ANYTHING about Hydroxypropyl Metasone! I googled it and still nothing. Not a thing in my drug book either.
  19. Help!!!!!

I'm sorry to report that the next day the patient was transferred to another floor along with her chart. My instructor told me not to worry about the drug. I told her I was curious and she said there is no reason to bother the patients nurses for the...
  20. Of course nurses are responsible for the duties of an "aide". My reasoning comes from my current employer who, as a nursing student and 5yr CNA, will not allow me to continue in my current job description as an Lpn while I work towards my RN. I was n...
  21. The problem employers have with this is that you are a nurse, and working as an aide allows for too many grey areas. What you are allowed to do and not allowed to do. The scopes of practice are so different that liability would be an issue.
  22. Help with Nursing Diagnosis

I would prioritize pain and discomfort over skin integrity. Acute pain r/t either dx or bedrest. Or you could do Nutrition:Impaired, less than body requirments. You could also do Activity Intolerance.
  23. Help!!!!!

I'm going to need to look at her chart again tommorrow and find out what went wrong where.... Thank you for trying!!!! :)
  24. Help!!!!!

Not sure of the class. Patient brought in with TIA and change in mental status. It is possible that I copied it down wrong, but I didn't think I would be that far off. Thank you anyway though.
  25. Practice Med-Surg FINAL EXAM (w/no answers)

If you look at the top of the post it says Final Review Online. I'm assuming the students are allowed to print the review questions.
