I delivered my (first and only) daughter about a week after Christina did...so when I read the People article - my L/D was FRESH in my mind. While I'm sure I had a GRAVY delivery compared to some (about 5 hours and 5 pushes) I just don't understand ...
Something in women's services...I KNOW that after my clinicals I could easily change my mind, but I've (known) all along that L/D, post partum, etc. is screaming my name...we'll see! :)

THANK YOU! I start the PN program at MCI on 9/15 and like you said - once all is said and done, over 1/3 of my tuition is being paid for between tuition reimbursement at work, grants and scholarships. The aid is out there if you take the time to fi...

I absolutely LOVE HCA - I worked for them for a few years, left to work for a doctor's office and have been back for about 3 years now. I hope to stay on with HCA once I graduate...My sister delivered all 3 of her children at HDH (Forest Campus) and ...

Hi - I'm a nursing student so I don't know about working in the L/D dept - BUT, I currently work for the business office for HDH (as well as about 40 other HCA hospitals!) and I can assure you it is one of the BEST facilities in the Richmond area. A...

thank you so much for the information/suggestions/advice! i take every bit of it to heart. i wish not working or even cutting my hours was a possibility...and if it weren't for my daughter - i would, but cutting my hours not only means less tuition...
Well...it's a 14 month program. I was able to get in the program without taking pre-reqs...who knew I'd remember what I learned in previous school years!?!? I believe I have 3 or 4 classes per term (4 terms) - my actual schedule is at home (I'm at ...
That's great! I hope we have that option when I start clinicals...I would really like to specialize in L/D (eventually) when I go back for RN - so any experience would be wonderful.
Oh wow! Like it's been said, every school is different and I'm sure that's true, but you having to pay for missed classes? Isn't tuition expensive enough?? My schools policy - you have to be there 80% of the term...or something VERY close to tha...

You can definitely take nursing classes at night...I work full time (40 hours/week) and am going to start my classes 9/15 - M-Th nights and Saturdays...I can even do my clinicals at night/weekends. HAHA!
I'll be 31 when I start in a month and a half and 32 when I graduate...AND I'm a single Mom to a 6 month old and work a FULL 40 hours a week! Yeah...I'm pretty proud of myself!
