:angryfire :angryfire Not only is that ethically wrong, it is patient abuse and neglect. That is morally demeanibg to the patient. That nurse needs FIRED and reported to the state board!!!
We are not allowed to have our own bottles of hand lotion!! The infection control nurse says it can cause a breadown in the durability of our gloves!! How absurd!! We do not reuse the gloves!!!
Shuttle??? They did not tell me anything about that in the interview!! I had to ride a shuttle when I worked at Children's Hospital in Atlanta, Ga. I hated it!!! Anyhow, I turned them down. At least for the weekend position. I may interview for a few...
Why don't you try a pool or prn position at a hospital close by. That way you are not committed to any certain hours, and you can decide if you like it or not.
I used to live in Acworth. It is about 25 miles North of Atlanta. It is a great community, with lots and lots of things to see an d do. The crime rate in that area, especially closer to Woodstock is fairly low compared to closer to Atlanta. Also the c...
I still do back-rubs at HS on my patients who are willing to accept one. Not only does it help the patient relax, it helps promote/restore circulation. In some cases, it can also help relieve pain. This is one area JCAHO is focusing on this year.

I agree with this to some extent. Management needed to make sure there was sufficient staff. A human life is worth more than them saving a few bucks by understaffing. However, the nurse should have enough sense to know that assignment was unacceptabl...
Thanks for the reply. I think a student's view point is great input. Chances are if they treat students that way, they might treat orientees that way. But then again, maybe not. I fell nursing students shopuld be treated good-- they will be nurses on...

If I were you, I would get out of there. Not sending a patient to the ER for emergency treatment when needed is considered negligence. If this happens, you can bet eventually a family will sue, and do you think the DON will bavk you up?? NO. She wil...

Several Christmases ago, we had a guy pull up to the E.R. entrance, wait for a tech to come out to see if he needed help in, and when the tech got to the entrance, he pulled a gun and shot himself in the head. That was particularly disturbing for the...
