  1. Negative Attitudes Towards RPN's

I hear you, and I agree with what you're saying. Kudos to you for being proud of what you do and taking on the education needed to get where you want to go. I'm sorry that some RNs or Student RNs have had that "superior" attitude with you or others.
  2. Ontario hospitals who don't hire RPNs?

I know Mt Sinai and Sick Kids in Toronto do not hire RPNs, however I'm not sure about UHN. Not all downtown hospitals do not hire RPNs, for sure, Sunnybrook (Holland Orthopedic and Arthritic Centre) and St. Michael's hires RPNs, and both of these are...
  3. Negative Attitudes Towards RPN's

Hi MacNursing, I really wish RPNs and RNs could work together harmoniously as well, as i'm sure they do in many workplaces. I've never actually seen an RN put down an RPN or an RPN put down an RN in real life, but I do see it alot around here on all...

  7. I don't know if it was just me but I had a male nurse preceptor when I was consolidating and I found that compared to the previous female preceptors that I had had, patients definitely showed him more respect. I don't know what it is but patients who...

  9. College or University Program

Hi Busybee, I've just completed the Ryerson Collaborative Program in Toronto and I went through the 2 year College- 2 year University route. Really there's no difference whether you do the 4 years at University or collaboratively. I think it really ...
  10. Grad Initiative wages

Smokes! That's good for Albertan Nurses! Is the cost of living about the same as here in Ontario (Toronto to be exact)?
  11. Grad Initiative wages

Hi Edmonton, In the New Graduate Guarantee that we have here in Ontario, the wage for a new grad in the initiative is 26.75 on a temporary license. Once you pass the CRNE and achieve "General Class" status, you will be bumped up to 28.50. That's her...

  13. Hey! I'm in Ontario and my school is the same 63% to pass all nursing courses.. I was also reading about the grading scales in the US:stone and saw the failing mark was below 76 or something!.. not sure how that works but nonetheless I'm pretty sure ...

The clinicals really help you find yourself in nursing.. You really get a feel for what you like.. Yeah most people (including me) really wanted to get into peds in their first year or two but once they start to get exposure to other things, most cha...
  16. Anyone else starting nursing school in the fall???

Remember that that's 10-20 people out of probably 200 so it's not that many.. and most times from what I know those people had personal issues that they were dealing with which was why they couldn't keep up.. Ryerson Nursing is hard only if you make ...
