  2. Since we were talking about birth plans....

I also had these "requests" for my birth, but expect the unexpected!! I had a midwife, and a big 'plan' for natural, bla, bla, bla.... needless to say, it didn't work that way, and at the time YOU WILL NOT CARE! In my future pregnancies, I will have ...
  3. Resident's right to refuse? Or NO right to refuse?!

I don't do anything if the patient refuses...just document it. I would report the instructor. My rule of thumb is, if you don't feel comfortable with something...don't do it. I was in clinical in a nursing home, and witnessed things that the CNA's ...

The hardest part for me are the care plans All of our instructors, depending on who you get want something different. It's very frustrating. We get our patient info the night before clinical, and stay up all night doing the care plan. Every time I t...
  5. A question for RN's and RN students.

I just want to point out that not ALL community colleges are lottery. In fact, the community college I go to accepts based on ACT score & GPA. The program I am in is one of the hardest and most respected in the state.
  6. A question for RN's and RN students.

I'm in a 2 year program at a community college right now. My advice is to do the 2 year, out of pocket at the comm. college, and then have your workplace pay for your BSN. We were told that A LOT of places will pay for your bachelor degree....this ...
  7. What makes Nursing school so hard?

Everyone in my nursing program are 4.0 students. EVERYONE is struggling. It's not memorizing...it's concepts. It's extremely fast paced. The whole degree is unlike any other type of degree. If you're avoiding math, I would think twice about nursing.....

  9. Patient or Client??? Which do you say?

I think client sounds too much like a 'business'.
  10. Patients Who Have Changed Our Lives

thank you for sharing your story.... I agree with you that patients want to live their life how they want to live it, and despite our best efforts, they don't always listen. I just figure they're adults, they can make their own choices. Good luck to ...

  16. Men and Bulimia

:(My father has had bulimia since he was a teenager. (He's 52) He has never admitted it, but we know he does...he throws up EVERY meal. He's got a 'system' down, as to where nobody knows but us. We know that inpatient help is not an option. He's very...

I forgot to mention that....he has always had horrible heartburn, and takes crazy amounts of antacids. Thank you so much scribblerpnp for your input, and thank you for the hugs!
  18. Men and Bulimia

yes, you would think that the dentist would pick it up....my theory is that he rinses with Listerine religiously. Also, he has had some 'iffy' bloodwork, and have to have it redone, however it came back 'normal'.

I attend Monroe, and am starting their RN program/clinicals in the fall. It's a very competitive program, but in a good way. I love the school, and look forward to graduating!! Good Luck!

  25. this website....

I would just like to say that I've noticed a lot of 'snotty' 'sarcastic' comments to a lot of the posts on the site. Is that really necessary?? This is supposed to be a supportive, informative place, not a cynical, negative place.
