This is the same thing I allways say! If they are healthy enough to make so much noise...they must be ready to go home. The noise in our unit is more from the staff and the monitor alarms than from the babies.

Same here. But we do tub baths with the cord still on. No problems if we make sure to dry it properly afterwards.

Just today we discharged twins who had been with us for 12 weeks and gone throug everything there is I think. The smiles on the parents and the hug and kind words from them were wonderful. This is why I do this, went trough my head. I love my job...

I totally agree with you on this one! I would never have a home birth. I have seen too many things go wrong.

We dont tuch our Mec asp kids or PPHN either. Like one of our docs sais: "it is better to be a here dirty than clean in heaven". They usually get better in a few days anyway so we just wait.

We bathe our kids tvice a week. As soon as they are fairly stable the parents do the bathing. We only use plain water, no soap at all. Linen are changed as needed. We have a very low infection rate. So we are happy with this policy.

This is so complicated where you all are. Where I work we are level everything. We just take every sick newborn no matter what. We only send out complicated cardiac surgery kids but all the others we keep.

We have a 24 week policy but it has happend that we tried to resuscitate a 23+some days with mostly bad results. But it all comes down to the neo on call this is not really a written policy.
