  2. Do you say you're a nurse...

I assume you're not talking to me, but the student.... You bring up a good point about LPN school= nursing school because you get RN school credit. Actually, LPN school counts as the frist year of RN...
  3. Just wondering how the physical side of nursing compares? I'm a single mom of a three year old and my plan is that I'll work 3 12-hr night shifts a week, so that I can minimize my time away from him....
  4. Lpn Or Ma

10 yrs ago, when I was first majoring in nursing (switched to psychology), I was told that LPN's were being phased out, as were 2-yr RN's. Well, 10 yrs have past, and I still hear people say that, but...
  5. Do you say you're a nurse...

Thanks guys, I don't think LPN's aren't nurses at all, I just wondered what what the common response. It makes sense to just say nurse, unless someone would understand or asks for which type of nurse....
  6. well, you're on a nursing forum so I'm assuming you have considered nursing I actually was pre-nursing starting out, then got my degree in psychology with plans on getting a grad degree, but life...

  12. Bad GPA - history of F's and retaking classes

lots of schools have "academic forgiveness policies" which not only include replacing the bad grade with a higher one, when you retake it, but if it's been long enough, and you have a good reason...
  13. army medic to nurse

I'm in OKC, but several of the programs here would admit you with lots of extra pts. for your certificates, veteran's experience, and paramedic and you'd go right into the RN program. If you don't...
  14. Please help: LPN to RN or LPN to BSN?

I haven't seen any LPN to BSN programs in my area (OKC). I think there may be one at OU, but they don't take A&P1 and A&P II (you have to take Anatomy and then Physiology) which is what I...
  15. do you have all of your prereq's for RN out of the way? If you do and you can jump in halfway through the traditional RN program (that's the way most of the programs in OKC are) I would go that route....
  16. Can you work while getting a BSN

I plan to get my BSN from OCU because its a one day a week, 9mo
  17. I'm just weighing my options right now, and it seems like the fastest route to RN for me is to get my LPN, work for a bit, and then fast track to RN. As a single mom, ideally I'd like to work while in...
  18. yes, but just keep in mind that "required" is not the same as average of applicants. A lot of schools will list their required GPA as 2.5 or so, but they don't wind up accepting anyone with grades...
  19. It totally depends on the programs you are applying to. In my area, the big university has over 1000 applicants for 120 spots, so unless your gpa is right around 4.0, it's nearly impossible to get it....
  20. Nose Piercing

just for the record, I had one of those tiny, rhinestone studs in my nose, and I accidentally pulled it out blowing my nose, and wiping my face once. So, even though they are very tiny, they can still...
  21. Do Over--is it worth it?

no. it varies program to program so you have to find out the specifics of the program you want to get into. In my area some include your gpa from every class you've taken, and some only for classes...
  22. Do Over--is it worth it?

I am discovering that every single school has different requirements. I have a notebook for each different school that I'm applying to because otherwise I'd go crazy trying to keep it all straight....
  23. How does one make this career change?

Sorry that's a hot button issue for you, but I've had A&P 1 and 2 at the university level, and now I'm retaking A&P 2 at my CC. It is way, way easier. The crazy thing is 10yrs later, it's the...
  24. I'm thinking of gong the LPN route starting in August so that I can at least be a nurse and able to work in one year, vs. the two that I have with the RN programs. Most of the CC RN programs are...
  25. thank you so much. There is actually a BSN program I can start this Fall (no wait list, just gpa req's) that I can finish in 2yrs as well, so I may wind up just going that route. I agree that a year...
