  1. Blood Pressure and LVAD

How do you take a blood pressure in an LVAD patient? Just curious. Thanks!
  2. Blood Pressure and LVAD

Thank you all for your responses! I'm a cardiac nurse, but we don't do LVADs in my facility. A family member of one of our patients had one, and was kind enough to let us look at it and ask questions, but that was one question I didn't think to ask.
  3. Most Annoying Nursing Stereotype

    This. So much of this.
  4. VENT--Boundaries please!!!!!

You said "taint". I love you.
  5. Too many know it "allnurses"

  6. Aye "Dummie". Excuse Me!

Since this seems to have turned into a post about grammar and whatnot, I only have one thing to say. It's "advice", not "advise". Carry on.
  7. Our day patient area doesn't have a room 13, either. It's my lucky number, though, since me and my two kids were all born on the 13th of the month. :)
  8. My age is showing, or 'No texting, please"

Google "nurses" or "nursing" and allnurses.com is one of the first websites that come up. Allnurses.com is a high-profile website that is easily accessed by the public. I wonder what "outsiders" think of our professionalism they read some of the pos...
  9. do u need a physician order for a therepeutic hold?

I don't know the mental health assistants' reasoning for initiating a hold, but you're not supposed to unless the patient is a danger to themselves or others- punching walls, throwing chairs at others, etc. You can't do it just because a patient is ...
  10. Tasers being used on mentally ill patients.

I agree wholeheartedly with the above. And I'm also sorry that happened to you.

  13. How do you feel about this?

All I can say is that I was p***** when I read the article. One of my peeves is when people suggest that their stay at the hospital should be every bit a pleasant as if they were staying at the Hilton. Meaning, nurses and staff should be there to ans...

  16. ATTN: Becoming a Medical Assistant=Waste of Time

Eh, I guess everyone's experience is different. I was an MA for eight years with a large specialty practice before finishing nursing school. They're a great group of docs (mostly) and now I work in their hospital as an RN. I feel like I learned a lot...

  18. Most of the major hospitals here in Oklahoma City have openings... Let me know if you want more info. And good luck with your search!
  19. Fake Nails

Our policy is no artificial nails or gel overlays. If I remember correctly, I don't think we allow polish either. It's a policy that's rather loosely enforced, however. I still see nurses and techs with the fake nails and nail polish. But, I can't sp...

Where is money wasted in healthcare? Marketing budgets.
  21. "there is no doubt in my mind, this will happen... and hope it happens. i cannot imagine, after 60 yrs of marriage, them being apart. it's heartbreaking for the children and loved ones: but as the article states, they wouldn't have it any other way."...
  22. Staff acting like mean girls what do you do

I would be polite and professional, do my job well, assume that they're going to talk about me behind my back anyways, and if it became intolerable, find someplace else to work. Nasty people are gonna be nasty no matter how "nice" you are to them. Mo...
  23. Favortism in the workplace

It's everywhere. My solution was to quit the small facility I was working at where the favoritism was blatant and move to a larger one where it's not so much. Plus I moved to nights. The less administration there is around, the less butt-kissing I h...
  24. Re> I need help

I saw your original post. My question isn't meant to chastize, but I'm curious. What made you choose nursing?
