  1. Who is REALLY GOOD with needles?

He had probably had a few drinks before the tatoos - many people that I know get them that way.
  2. Clairol advertisement disrespects RNs?

You know, this thread makes me think about how much I loved watching that commercial of all the women watching the sexy construction worker drink his coke. Guess I shouldn't have enjoyed it, huh?
  3. Who is REALLY GOOD with needles?

Keep them talking - you can't have a nice conversation and tense up at the same time. I worked my way through college as a phlebotomist and it really helps to learn the correct angle of insertion - I worked with a lab tech who would jab it in straigh...

  7. non-degree jobs

You know, the nursing home may be willing to hire 16 year olds. They have such a difficult time getting and keeping staff. It's worth a try. I loved working in the nursing home during my teen years. (Of course that was 20 years ago! )
  8. Dilemma about internship. HELP

I too agree with the others. Get some different experience, but definitely let her know you want to return there and enjoy working there. Good luck!
  9. Do Dr.'s Offices Hire New Grads?

Just curious - what kind of nursing jobs have regular hours? (like 9-5). I am pretty sure Dr.'s offices would, but do they hire new grads or do they want a lot of experience under your belt? My husband is a lithotripsy tech and has to leave for wor...
  10. Anyone in the Greenville, NC area?

Never lived there, but dated a guy from there and visited frequently: Has a major college - East Carolina Pretty large town with most anything you could need. 30-40 minutes from the beach. Pretty remote area surrounding the town, so if you like the ...
  11. What makes you want to be a nurse?

My best friend and I volunteered at the local nursing home every summer in high school and I've been hooked ever since. When you buy something new or watch a good movie it makes you feel good for a little while, but when you've helped make a person...
  12. Should teachers be CPR certified?

Wow, this has been an enlightening thread! I am the PTA President of my child's school, and after reading this will definitely find out whether our teachers know CPR - and if not then our PTA will pay for it! That's what the PTA is for - protecti...

  17. I'm not so sure anymore...

Hey Nurse2bSandy! I just had to write because our stories are so alike. I too dropped out of nursing school because I was too young to handle the stress of it and got married! I will be taking my pre-reqs this fall and starting back to nursing sch...
  18. Maybe working isn't such a good idea for me

Whatever you do, just be honest and up front - ask your supervisor what he/she thinks you should do. By putting the ball in their court it will show them that you are dependable and not just wimping out.
  19. I'm in shock.

Congratulations! You'll be a in no time at all!
  20. Undecided Student

  21. uniforms are killing us

I don't want to wear white because I am "pleasantly plump" and would look the michelin man in them! :imbar I think what bothers me more than anything is the fact that non-medical employees wear scrubs to work - what is that about? I think it's real...

  23. Just Curious?

OK, Baby Girl and Heather - I apologize if you read my post wrong. I was in no way being negative or trying to upset anyone! My point was that I really like the messages that have a title so I know if I'm interested or not. I have a REALLY SLOW c...
  24. I'm not so sure anymore...

Rayrae, I think sensitivity is very important for being a nurse. I sure don't want someone unfeeling taking care of me. The important thing is learning to deal with it in a strong manner and not have see through skin. As to the selfish part, if y...
