I've been a nurse for almost 12 years now and the thought of travel nursing has crossed my mind a few times in my career but have yet to take the plunge. Is there any articles or websites you can point me to, to get a better understanding of how it ...

Since your PP unit cares for AP patient, I'm going to assume you don't get too many high risk OB cases. Having worked on a strickly high risk OB floor we would get anything from PPROM to septic pregnant woman to baby's with severe developmental issu...
Most hospitals now have the option of being choosy and are not considering ADN nurses for new hires. For better job opportunities I would go the BSN route.
18wks gestation, 4cm dilated, ?ROM placed on magnesium sulfate drip. Was completely dumbfounded and appalled but curious what others think and what would you do if this was your patient?
She was IVF so I'm guessing the dates were pretty accurate. It's an unfortunate situation but we can't attempt to save every baby by putting mother's health on the line. I felt that they should have made her as comfortable as possible and let what ...
I am currently employed but have wanted to work for Baylor since moving to the Dallas/Ft. Worth area last year in the woman services area. Since I am already employed I have been selective in the position I want and make sure that I have every requi...
This is an epidemic at my hospital. Most stay until 34wks unless they have advanced dilitation then they stay until they deliver. Main reason we have so many is because we're a big city teaching hospital and we aquire many transfers from small rura...

I stressed unnecessarily over this test as well. It's was a breeze a total common sense test. I searched the internet for answers to maybe 2 or 3 questions. Didn't do any preparation beforehand and I passed.
Anyone familiar with them? I'm assuming it's similar to Group One since they are doing a background check but the information they require seems a little excessive. I filled out a form yesterday so they could do a background check on me basically a...
I got the same reponse when I first applied, I'm thinking they never even glanced at my resume before they sent that auto response. Well I have to say is persistance is key. 6 was my lucky number it seems. That's the # of times I've applied for po...
I know in my hospital they allow RN's to place IUPC's if the patient is already ruptured (not allowed to AROM). It's a special skill you have to get checked off on so not everyone does it.
Have you tried KidsPark? It's a drop in daycare so it's an hourly fee. I've used them sporatically for the last year when I'm in a bind because I don't need regular child care and my daughter lights up when she gets there. There was one incident w...

Generally speaking a BSN is always preferred over an ASN. That doesn't mean you can't easily get a job with an associate's but I've never seen a position that stated ASN preferred.
I work @ THR-Arlington. It's a smaller hospital that mostly tends to a lower economic class compared to places like Plano but staff here is friendly. I chose here mainly because it's close to home so it makes for a nice commute. I delivered my las...
Orders are pretty standard and few on L&D with the #1 drug being Pitocin. Remember for the most part these are healthy women that do not require a wide variety of medication.
I could have written this post 4.5yrs ago! I went right into Neuro ICU right after nursing school. I did enjoy the excitement of ICU but like you got pretty burnt out with the short staffing, the sundowners, the cleaning of all kinds of bodily flui...
Actually as a new grad it costs more like $30,000 each to fully train them. The price goes up when it's a specialized field. I recently moved to the DFW and had no problems finding a job but I have 5+yrs experience so that seems like that makes a ...
