  1. Anxiously waiting...

HERE I AM, NCGIRL-----CRNA!!!! :clown: :roll I also love typing that. I was loving every second of signing charts today with that little change of a letter. I can't believe it, it's honestly truly completely over! I finally have my life back...
  2. Anxiously waiting...

hey charles thor, I took it the same day, no word yet. my classmates that have heard have all taken 2 1/2 to 3 weeks.
  3. GRNA with time running out

IT SUCKED!!! Obviously, I can't say much since the council on certification will come after me. I will just say that if they think they can determine in 90 questions if I'm competent, then it would be nice if they'd ask me anesthesia specific quest...
  4. GRNA with time running out

I take the little quiz tomorrow at 12:30. Any and all prayers and good wishes welcome! I'm scared to death...
  5. GRNA with time running out

I've been studying Valley, 1/28 is my day for the little quizzie. I'm scared to death, b/c there's no way I can study anymore if I have to retake this exam. I'm ready to be done!!!
  6. December graduates

Well, I know I can't be one of the only ones on here finishing anesthesia school this month! It's OVER, finally OVER!!! I'm am so excited, but will be even happier after I pass that little quizzie they force us all to take after graduation. What d...
  7. Roland, I believe you. I wonder if this is my old unit. There was an experience nurse who was best friends with the manager. She did things like unhooking chest tubes from suction, and moving the level of your pressure transducer, among others. S...
  8. ICU - Should I stay or go?

Hmmm, your unit almost sounds like anesthesia school at times. There are a million right ways to do something, you have to act a certain way to survive, and it can certainly be disorganized. However, with that said, this doesn't sound like a unit t...
  9. CRNA and personal life

Hey there. I think being a CRNA can be great with a family, as long as you find the right job. My hospital has over 70 anesthetists, who all do different kind of schedules. It comes out every quarter, and you can change what you work every three m...
  10. Sympathectomies and atropine

You do indeed rock! I've wondered the same thing myself.
  11. GSW victim

NS (and bicarb.) Check HGB, if
  12. Clinical - Induction Sequence and Ventilation

Same here, ventilate unless RSI. If I tube on Sux, a couple of breaths then go. If tubing on Roc, I turn on some sevo and ventilate until I feel the bag change compliance. If I'm not ventilating, I first reposition my hand and then mask. If that ...
  13. Go to sleep- That was so rude. Tamm1 was simply stating what they had been told. The problem here is the ignorant nurses who made the statements, not the curious nurse who had the sense to ask around and find out the truth. Cut tamm1 some slack!
  14. A hospice poem/writing-

Thank you for that, it brought tears ro my eyes.
  15. Katrina's Effect on CRNA programs in LA

I was wondering about that as well. As if us anesthesia students don't have enough to stress about, your home gets destroyed, and you're forced to relocate your family during school. My prayers goes out to all the students on the gulf coast!!!
  16. North Carolina HB503 is officially dead

I guess my repeated phone calls and letters (in the midst of studying and clinical) were worth it after all. Thanks to everyone out there for all the support!!! We did it!
  17. 100 days before graduation

I am with you all in your feelings. Starting to get really freaked out about boards. Done December 15th here!
  18. AANA/ASA Awareness brochure - unethical

Intubation does not occur during maintenance, it's part of induction.
  19. After graduation present.......

Cruise already booked, dec 18-23. Graduate on the 15th!!!
  20. Hi everyone! Well, it's down to less than five months until anesthesia school is over. I can't even begin to express how happy I am. I want to know about anesthesia in the Denver/Boulder area. Do they use CRNA's, or AA's, both, are there resident...
  21. Specific Schools

The "farming out" at UNCC is the best part of the program. Big Dave, you'll see what I mean when you get here.
  22. Careplans!! please respond

I agree, they suck. Ours are called IAP's, individualized anesthetic plan. The first page is pt info and history, all drugs and dosages, and fluid plan. The rest of it includes surgical considerations, primary comorbidity(DX), and then all seconda...
  23. Who is going to AANA meeting?

Will be there, staying about 6miles away at a hotel that has free happy hour from 5-7 every evening. I'm all for hanging out before party with a purpose. Just post the details!
  24. Duke CRNA

At the major trauma center in Charlotte we have around 110 CRNA's, the actual number always fluctuates. That covers 28 main OR's, 4 OB, 10 outpt, plus a lot of out of dept stuff like MRI, rad. onc, and CT (mainly peds stuff for out of dept).
  25. Last Words before Induction.......

a helpful thing someone told me....don't say "we'll see you in recovery". Some pt's may think it means your'e gonna put them to sleep, then leave them. I usually say that "You're going to start feeling alot more sleepy--I'll be right here with you ...
