  1. LaGuardia student, LPN advice needed

Hey Plain Vanilla, Sorry it took so long for me to respond, I haven't been back to this side of the forums in a while. To answer your question, yes I am a spring '08 graduate of LaGcc; the program is tough but doable. I got into the program with an ...
  2. LaGuardia student, LPN advice needed

I agree with the poster above me, one A- should not stop you from getting into the program. I graduated from the RN program in the spring and I had an A- in both A&Ps (I took the second one with fundamentals and it was difficult).
  3. Wasting Narcotics

I have never been in your position (thank the Lord), and maybe I don't have room to talk because I have not worked as a nurse yet, but I wouldn't do that either. I applaud you for standing your ground and doing what's right. I know that in the real...
  4. How are you going to Vote - US

    :yeahthat: :dncgbby: :bdyhdclp:
  5. Question about Open Houses

Ten or eleven sounds good--not too early, not too late. Good luck!! I have an open house to attend in about a week, so post back and tell me how it goes (I'm assuming that you are attending one soon).
  6. Question about Open Houses

I would think that meant that you can come anytime between 9am and 4pm. However, I would not recommend showing up at 3:50pm thinking you are going to be taken seriously. If you don't have another job or other commitments. . .the earlier the better. ...
  7. Name the hospital and its Starting Salary!!!

Thanks Allimariee for the information. SNCH is not on a hiring freeze like Nassau University Medical Center, you just have to be persistent to land an interview. I hear great things about how supportive the staff is at SNCH, which makes it really ap...
  8. Name the hospital and its Starting Salary!!!

I guess no one knows Sue. . .let's see if I have any luck. Anyone know the starting salary at South Nassau Communities Hospital? I read the other postings, but it just says low. . .how low is low?
  9. New RN needs career advice...:(

The OP came on this board looking for advice, not someone telling her she should be "grateful that [she] has a job" and that she needs to "learn how to be tough and roll with the punches." Are these the type of responses you're looking for when you...
  10. Job Search Help...

I wish I had that problem too. . .wanna trade places? lol Shiny--I see we are both in the tri-state area. . .futureicunurse r u close by? I'm trying to be patient, but it's getting harder and harder by the day. I wonder what I am doing wrong.
  11. From KBCC to Hunter College or......

Hey hey hey now Cherry. As helpful as you have been to me, I can't have you implying that KBCC will have the highest passing rate this year. lol LaGcc had a 97% passing rate in 2007, the highest in the STATE not just CUNY; so we'll have to see what t...
  12. What do you mean by "less than desirable shifts"? If that means doing a fair share of holidays, then yes I agree. However, if that means night shift in med-surg, then I disagree. I don't see anything wrong with a new grad going for a day position i...
  13. NCLEX: How many times is enough?

i'll respect my elders. . .have fun! bu-bye
  14. NCLEX: How many times is enough?

it seems that you cannot validate your concerns for the "poor patients" being cared for by a rn that took multiple attempts to pass the nclex. i asked the same question that the op asked and you still haven't answered it. where is the research that c...
  15. NCLEX: How many times is enough?

you really want to know? lmao; you are too funny. :chuckle i took the exam once. it stopped at 75 questions in a little under 60 minutes, and yes i passed! any other questions? are you going to answer the question i asked in my last post now?
  16. NCLEX: How many times is enough?

Really? That's the norm? A bunch of primates who are licensed by BONs, clueless, with patients' lives in their hands? lol. I doubt it. You're average, certifications, etc. are not of interest in this thread. The question being asked is. . .what evid...
  17. Sept 19,2008 NCLEX RN test takers!

Thanks Leam09. I can't imagine being in either of your shoes; I would be a nervous wreck! 48 hours of waiting was torture and I don't know what I would do if I had to wait a month. You are both in my prayers and I hope you both come back and post gre...
  18. NCLEX: How many times is enough?

you're comment is rude; i don't even find it constructive at all. see what you forget is that the nurse who passed on the "ninth try" still has rn after his/her name just like you do. they have to go through the same on the job training as you and ha...
  19. Sept 19,2008 NCLEX RN test takers!

I took my NCLEX-RN on Sept. 19th and found out that I passed (yay!) on the 21st because I live in a quick results state. What's the average wait time where you are? I'll be praying for you and I hope you pass as well. Good luck and keep us posted.
  20. How did you prepare for your Nclex -Rn

I took it on Williams street last Friday (9/19) and found out I passed on Sunday (9/21). I'm a RN! Thanks for the prayers though. The site was up to standards and I was seated and testing within 20 minutes of arriving at the site. I live in Queens,...
  21. Welcome, New York Nurses!

I'll do everything you suggested and hope for the best. I guess I'll spend the day writing the cover letters. I'll keep you posted on my job hunt. Thanks Sue!
  22. Welcome, New York Nurses!

Sue, thanks for responding. I will drive into LI. . .do you know which hospitals are hiring new grads? I wasn't planning on working in Manhattan because I refuse to drive there and have taken the subway enough for two lifetimes. When I was on the J ...
  23. NCLEX: How many times is enough?

Algernon, you brought up some excellent points that I didn't even think of. I can't wait to see the responses.
  24. NCLEX: How many times is enough?

Of course, most people's test scores reflect their knowledge/ability; but, there is a big difference between someone who does poorly on tests because they don't have the required nursing knowledge (the poor nursing candidate) and someone whose testin...
  25. NCLEX: How many times is enough?

It can also be said that someone who is willing to fight that hard to reach their goals will be willing to fight that hard, if not harder for their patients. People tend to appreciate what they work hard for. If the rules say they can take it as man...
