Ha! :chuckle I had that mentality before you gave me the talk about where to apply. Although I haven't applied to any companies besides Banner.....yet. And as for intelligent, what was your score on the last test again? Just kidding.
I graduate in March and am fervently applying for all kinds of positions. I've talked to a recruiter or two and the have told me to contact them in February when it is closer to graduation. There isn't much out there, at least with Banner, for new gr...

I think it may be because of how the curriculum will be taught and more spread out over the 4 blocks, instead of distinctly dividing it into 1-2 LPN, 3-4 RN. I know they just reorganized the whole nursing program.
I am in the BNFP at Estrella. I started last October. For Block 1, class was 8hrs Mon. and Tues. with 8hr labs Wed. and Thurs. Once lab was done, clinicals were 8hrs for Wed. and Thurs. Block 2 was better, class was 8hrs Mon. and 2hrs. Tuesday. Clini...
Where I extern, a person can only work one 12hr shift a pay period (which is 2 weeks). It comes out to twice a month. A person can extern more if they are off of school (i.e. the 2 week break between blocks or during Christmas break). Then it can be ...
Funny you say that, there are only about 5 in my class who want ICU...the rest are kind of mixed (peds, ER, tele), with some who aren't sure yet. Me? I'm ICU all the way!!!! Some ICU's will hire new grads, especially if you decide to extern on a unit...
1. I don't mean to do things out of your scope..... I meant if you can get an externship position, go for it! 2. Also, yes, externs are paid employees of the hospital.
At Banner Health, a nursing student can become an extern if they are within one year of graduating nursing school. You are basically a nurses (your preceptor) shadow. You get to perform basic nursing skills, learn about drips/meds, and learn all abou...

Mine is either shoved in my clinical bag, my backpack, or around my neck. I would never get one of those fabric covers for it (can you imagine all the MRSA, VRE, C.Diff, etc. that you would carry around after touching patients with it? Ick!), but I d...
I'm not even sure they looked at the NET scores. I took the NET because you need it to apply to the MCCD program----which following that, you can apply to Banner. Banner has a separate application you need to fill out. I'm sure the panel gets your MC...
LOL :chuckle Interesting thought! NP is just not for me, I don't want to be a doc. I rather like doing bedside care and interacting with patients one-on-one on their road to recovery.

Just to let you know.... I interviewed last August for the October '08 program and didn't find out until the end of August that I was accepted. They usually interview up 'til mid-August, so it may be awhile for you to hear back! good luck to you!
I totally agree! I love coming on shift as a student or an extern (I'll love it more when I don't have schoolwork to do and I'm a full RN!). People in my class complain about clinicals or being at the hospital, and I think they're nuts. Yeah, I may b...
For report, I just follow my personal sheet. In the ICU, it's long and detailed, but this is how it usually goes... Patient name, birthday code status allergies attending docs current hx (events during hospitalization) past medical hx neuro status CV...
From my understanding, ASU has an alliance with the community colleges. Once you finish with your ADN at the community college level, you can apply and be accepted into the ASU accelerated ADN to BSN. It's only a year (maybe 14 mos) and classes are o...

I am in the accelerated BNFP at Estrella. I study constantly. For me, the most challenging part of nursing school is trying to master the enormous mounds of material in a short time. On a typical day during the week, class is about 3 hrs, then home t...
