    Washington Hospital Center

I received an email a few days after submitting the application. I guess a general "follow up". It asked questions like what is the name of the hospital that you completed your final clinical (what...

    Renting or buying nursing books?

I bought most of my textbooks from Chegg or Amazon. Amazon allows you to rent a book for a semester (which may be a little tricky for some students who attend schools that are not on the traditional 2...

How far do you travel to get to work?

I drive about 40 minutes to get to my job. I'm about to finish a LPN-BSN program so I'm applying everywhere in the country lol.. My area ( DC metro ) is heavily saturated with

Hi everyone. I applied & received an email about filling out a questionnaire. Does anyone know what comes next
  7. Hi Suzie! My name is Kimberly & I am a Christian. I am a LPN, and currently finishing up a LPN-BSN program. My prayer is that I will be finished in June
  8. I wish I could like this twice!! But I agree with the consensus that it's a good idea to job hunt while you're still employed. Don't feel trapped..this isn't a healthy atmosphere

The "Nursing Games" claims it's first victims...

I agree! Our program is one of the few around in our area that had a class on Dosage Calculations. Although I took that class in November of 2010, I still kept the book & occasionally look at it...

The "Nursing Games" claims it's first victims...

It's always sad to know that those who start with you may not finish with you.

    CNAs working in corrections

Yes, but you don't have to worry about cleaning up people, or dealing with family members and fussy management breathing down your neck

    CNAs working in corrections

It depends on what the CNA is "allowed" to do at that particular facility. They're all so different so it's hard to say. We don't employ CNA's at my jail, so I couldn't really provide a good answer....

How many of you here wear ted/support hose to work?

Do you have a local scrub/uniform store? They usually keep them behind the counter. Also, you can find them on amazon.com or any scrub/uniform

    LPN considering corrections

I turned down a job at another county jail b/c of this. Doing blood sugars would be fine, honestly. But on top of taking vitals, the HUGE med pass, doing screenings for new inmates, and all the...

Rant: I already hate my job

Sometimes I would go into detail, but that's not a good idea. Lately I would just say that it wasn't a good fit, or I wanted to experience more than just long term care..something very generic like...

Rant: I already hate my job

I think I bailed after two months. By then I had more than enough experience & got three job offers. Don't stay at a place if you're miserable. It will show in your ability to provide adequate...

    Brand new corrections nurse!

Hi there! The city jail was my first LPN job too. I've been there almost two months. It's pretty cool so far. At my facility we are mainly responsible for the med pass (there are 3 of them at 9am,...

    New LPN & Can't get a job

I landed a job after a month & a half. Some things I did was: change my resume a bit, expand my job search radius, and apply to any place that hired LPNS ( I applied at nursing homes, hospitals,...
  20. I agree. Don't study RN nclex questions, because there a lot of questions that focus on your scope as an LPN. Some study guides I recommend: Saunders has an excellent NCLEX book for LPN's. NSCBN has a...

    Being an ugly nurse

    - This picture used to be my background on my computer. I thought I'd share it with you. Like others have mentioned, it doesn't matter how you look. The only thing that matters is that you are a...

    How to study/learn medications

Having a drug manual will help too. I was a bit rusty as well when I first started my job (didn't have a lot of experience with the psych meds) but I did remember the classes. It helps to remember...

How many of you here wear ted/support hose to work?

I didn't really have the achy leg problem when I was a CNA, but when I got my first nursing job my legs ached SO bad ! I had to buy compression stockings, and they rock :) And I got some Nikes, they...
