Not once did my clinical cohorts nor I use our hemostats. In fact, they were only used to dangle "tape" from our scrub/polo tops; tape that was used for IVs and wound care dressings, while others routed their stethoscopes through a roll of tape.

You'll most likely pick up a free pair during your clinical rotations from pharmaceutical sales vendors.
