  2. Ohio University RN-to-BSN Program

Thanks for starting this thread and for all info/experiences you have generously shared chuckster. I'm surprised that you have to take cultural diversity considering all the other classes you have taken. From the youtube videos it sounded like a fo...
  3. Ohio University RN-to-BSN Program

I'm amazed that as stated on this thread it took some up to 5 months to get admitted and get a DAR from OU. They should make it easier for students.
  4. To those who want to leave nursing

An inarticulate "Wow wow wow" back to you! I guess by "ben" you meant been. Have you or OP PunkBen ever EVEN bothered to to notice how much YOUNG nurses EAT THE OLD!!! Get over yourself. We who have been in nursing have EARNED the RIGHT and are...
  5. Diversity.. at what price?

Agree. The judgemental attitude of new nurses is getting very old.
  6. failed pre-employment drug screen

Right. It seems odd that a pre employement drug screen gets reported to the BON. OP were you already on BON discipline. Or are you already in a diversion drug program when you relapsed. No sympathy. I think the BON is WAAY too easy on addiction. ...
  7. Why is it so hard to get a Job?

I honestly think there is just an oversupply of nurses. Hospitals also seem to post more jobs than they are actively hiring for. Persistence and improving your nursing skills should eventually pay off in a job offer.
  8. BSN but want to take LPN/LVN exam. HELP!

https://allnurses.com/nclex-discussion-forum/finished-bsn-but-598783.html You need to ask in the Philippines International Forum many are in your shoes. To work in the US you need a green card or a ss #. There is no way to bypass this law.
  9. Who else loves their job

I'm curious due to some of your other questions. Where do you work JohnnyDepp23? Are you a student?
  10. need some advise regarding workplace harassment

I don't know about Canada but in the US employers retaliating by issuing a complaint to the Board of Nursing against an RN who complained is sadly VERY common. You might need a lawyer. Your license will probably not be revoked for the mistakes you ...
  11. accidental fingerstick

Sorry but I don't get something. Is this your second accidental needle stick? Did you have a pt with MRSA and CA and stick yourself?
  12. nursing program without waitlist

Be sure and ask whatever school you are thinking of how many new grads get jobs. There are many new grad RNs without work because we have graduated too many. I think some school will take your tuition knowing that there is an over supply of nurses ...
  13. Sleeping on the job

Your license mandates that you report this nurse. If you don't report it her actions are on you.
  14. Right. It's not "admitting hiring discrimination" if a hiring manager values a University degree over an online degree! The OP asked the question in hopes of getting honest responses. I can honestly say that many nurses I know still look at onlin...
  15. Finally understand the Facebook no-no's

I don't think the information is as private as users think too. About the posting of status reports-I wonder why people think everyone is interested in the mundane details of their lives. Another thing that bothers me about fb is that people seem ...
  16. Is nursing shortage a myth?

Your suspicions and logic is spot on. There should be more blogs and articles like yours in the media to get the word out.. But like the others said we are responsible for picking careers that have enough jobs available. Protesting and demonstrati...
  17. RN to BSN from USM online

Curious if anyone here is doing the RN to BSN from USM online. I could attend USM on campus but online programs might be easier to manage with kids and f/t job. There are so many online school options these days...It takes a lot of research time to...
  18. 3 dui's in mi

Exactly what I was wondering when I read OP's post. But it sounds typical of unfair things I've seen in BON discipline. I've known a few newbie RN's who made mistakes where no one was hurt. But since hospitals often have to report errors to the BON...
  19. I agree the NJ hospital thread had a great, interesting, unifying debate going and was not racist. That's why it continued for over 132 responses. The "puppy mill" comment was not on the thread about the NJ hospital. "Puppy mill" was a comment on a...
  20. Just noticed the thread about the NJ hospital that garnered 132 responses is gone. Why let that many people put their time into responding then suddenly delete it after 132 responses? That thread had interesting debate this one makes little sense b...
  21. The 'their team' comment reminds me how frustrating it was working in a large Houston hospital with a lot of Filipino's. Once a month a sheet of hard to fill shifts would come out and we were all supposed to get a fair chance to sign up. (These sh...
  22. What are some psychological effects of being a nurse?

I can relate to massrn116's comment of feeling like I constantly have to watch my back at work. And maybe a few other psychological changes. Two people very close to me who don't know each other made the exact same observations of how I've changed ...
  23. Sometimes NM is stuck between a rock and a hard place. I wouldn't want that job. Demands for cost cutting from higher ups vs pt and nurse safety. But when they show no empathy snippy replies like in your example, I've been known to reply as you did...
  24. Registered Dietitian?

I agree that there is much less of a need for RD's so their salaries tend to be lower.
  25. What should your title look like?

To me it doesn't matter, I go with the facilities policy. For my name badge I'm OK with whatever sequence and initials the hospital uses. Some just want RN some hospitals add degrees and certifications. I generally use initials and degrees with th...
