  1. Which patients are you most scared to take care of?

People who can’t breathe scare the crap out of me. I can pretty much deal with anything else —except trachs and babies. Those two, I will do anything to avoid.
  2. Has anyone left nursing job due to COVID19 virus?

We’re expected to use ours for TWO weeks...I’m certainly planning my exit and praying I’m not infected before then.?
  3. What is it like in your hospital right now?

Metro Atlanta. The whole state has 3,000 cases so nowhere near as hard hit as other locations.
  4. Am I a coward for going on FMLA due to COVID?

    Amen! ??????????
  5. What is it like in your hospital right now?

We are at 40+ positive patients and 20+ rule outs. For reference, my hospital isn’t very big. Just over 200 beds. My anxiety is through the roof.?
  6. Has anyone left nursing job due to COVID19 virus?

I'm seriously considering it now that my hospital is forbidding us from wearing masks unless we’re caring directly for confirmed COVID patients.
  7. What is it like in your hospital right now?

I totally understand rationing, but to tell us masks aren’t allowed and threatening write ups if you bring in your own is just plain crazy.
  8. What is it like in your hospital right now?

Is anyone else’s facility refusing to allow staff to wear masks (including plain old surgical masks) unless they’re caring directly for a COVID-19+ patient?
  9. Questionable actions that make you go hmm?

  10. Suicide by chronic pain sufferers after opioids reduced

Thanks so much for the response. I was at work when she called me, and she can be a drama queen about a lot of things. But when she says she hurts, she's really hurting. She actually said the words "I want to die" because she was in so much pain and ...
  11. Suicide by chronic pain sufferers after opioids reduced

I know this thread is kind of old, but I felt the need to comment. My sister has sickle cell. Yeah yeah I know the stigma. I worked in the ED for 10 years, and I came across a lot of fakers who didn't even really have sickle cell and just wanted drug...
  12. Depression and Nursing

How'd you lose your job on FMLA? I thought that was the whole point...that with FMLA you leave, take care of your personal business, and come back to a job.
  13. Nurse bringing child to work

I'm not even 100% sure of what the policy is at my job. But I work in a procedural area where we're on call, and if my childcare falls through (it's happend 3x in the last year at least), my kid comes with. She's been there unfortunately 8+ hours. Sh...
  14. Anyone else being GPS tracked?

What?!?! Your personal medical information is uploaded online??? That can NOT be legal.
  15. Night shift alterative hours poll

    This is my DREAM shift!
  16. Brian Short News

I've mostly lurked, but haven't logged on in years. I found out about Brian and his family's passing via people.com. It's being reported as a murder/suicide. I don't know what happened, or who did what. But, this community has kept myself and many ot...
  17. License by Endorsement in GA, How long did it take?

Suprisingly it only took them 9 days from the day they received my application and all supporting documents to the day they issued me a license. I was shocked. I was expecting the wait to be 4-6 weeks.
  18. Scrubs for tall women

Hi. I'm really tall and really skinny so looking for scrubs that fit is nearly impossible . Where can I get scrub bottoms that are long enough, but actually fit (not baggy unisex ones)??? I found a couple of really old threads related to this top...
  19. I did my clinicals on the PCU at St. Anthony's, and I wouldn't dare work there. Too many patients and not enough ancillary staff to help. That was a couple of years ago though, so maybe things have gotten better. Just my opinion.
  20. IV forms of Zofran and Decadron given PO???

I actually tasted Orapred (just to see what it tasted like), and I didn't think it was bad at all. It was kinda grapey tasting:D. I've never given IV Decadron by mouth, or even heard of doing it that way, but I have given IV Zofran by mouth when th...
  21. My ABSN class had a 100% pass rate on NCLEX, so it's not impossible to learn and retain the info that's being thrown at you at lightening speed. Our program was 15 months long.
  22. Pumping and working as RN

I'm going back to work in a couple of weeks and I'm wondering how working 12 hour shifts and pumping is going to work out. This hospital doesn't have L&D, and it's also a brand new job for me. I'm kind of nervous about asking the nurse manager a...
  23. Any good agency in Tampa,Fl??

Not an agency, but Baycare (St. Joseph's, St. Anthony's, Morton Plant) mobile pool has prn work or 13 week contracts.
  24. How long did you work for while your were pregnant?

I'm currently 36 weeks pregnant, and after this weekend, I'm on leave. I've been working 12 hour shifts throughout my pregnancy (torture!), but the charge nurses usually let me leave 1 or 2 hours early if it's slow. None of my co-workers have allowed...
  25. Nonsense "stat" orders

    Super duper stat? Really? LMAO!:rotfl:
