    Absolutely not! I actually think it was the best decision I have ever made. I love my job, I feel that I have a purpose in life -- to help people to the best of my abilities, and I am content with the benefits and salary.

    I wear my wedding band only. I think the ring would cause problems when getting gloves on and off.
  13. How many Pt do you take care of?

    I have been taking care of 8 patients on night shift on a medical surgical floor. Sometimes we have a new admission so it might be 9. We have one CNA for 15 patients so it's not so bad.
  14. Do You take your patients out for smoke breaks?

    No, I do not take them out for smoke breaks...I keep telling them it causes cancer and cardiovascular problems...I hate to remind them of it but it's my job as a nurse to educate the public even if it's a topic they dislike.

    I got a job while I was finishing up my last year of school, at the same hospital where I completed my last clinical rotation. I knew what unit I wanted to be working on, went and talked to the Nurse Recruiter and got hired shortly after.

    A what?! Joking...I take a break since I work the night shift but most of the time it is at the nurse's station. I'm OK with it but sometimes I really feel I would like to get outside and get some fresh air...I bet I'm not the only one!

    I would get him a fancy alarm clock...to make sure he wakes up in time for work! he he I know it's not the most glamorous idea but we all need one and he will see it everyday!

    I would report it...as much as I would hate to admit I made an error, I think reporting it and taking action to correct any potential harm is the right thing to do.
  21. Nurses under 30, whats important to you?

    Most important to me are proximity, benefits, and pay. Other things I would consider include patient to nurse ratio, work hours, continuing education programs, staff attitude on the unit.
  22. I throw syringes with no needle in the garbage (like flushes and such)...unless they were contaminated with bodily fluids...(blood etc).

    The only problem I can see with it is having a muslim patient giving birth...but even then, you can switch a female nurse to that patient and all is fine (they only accept same sex health care professionals).

  25. Nurse's Day

    At the long term care facility where I work we do celebrate Nurse's Week. The best gift I got was a three item gift from Bath and Body...I just love that stuff!!!
