  1. board certification

Hi beccajean, I'm actually looking for same exact info! I haven't purchased the ANCC book yet, just using the ATI RN Mental Health Nursing review book from school to do an overview and quick review for now until I get better suggestions.
  2. Need help understanding acute, chronic, stable, and unstable

As a RN, I would obtain the first set of VS and if stable, delegate to the LPN or CNA the subsequent VS. But it also depends on the patients condition. If the patient is immediate post-op, I as the RN would do the VS myself until the patient is stabl...
  3. For anyone who's done the Kaplan Qbank?

Those numbers are actually pretty good. I could never get higher than 64% on Kaplan, my lowest score was 58%, and they say to aim for 65%. I passed nclex with 75 questions, I agree with the other poster that Kaplan is harder than the nclex.
  4. Need help understanding acute, chronic, stable, and unstable

Anything that requires teaching, patients going into a procedure, admissions and transfers go to the RN. Unstable patients go to RN (patient reporting any pain needs to be assessed, SOB, starting new med, patient refusing meds, anything new onset) Pa...
  5. NCLEX Candidate Performance Report

I used the Kaplan question trainers and qbank. I also briefly used nclex 3500 (its free, there is a link somewhere on this site) but I found the Kaplan questions more challenging. There's also a nclex 4000 but I believe u have to pay for that one. I ...
  6. NCLEX Candidate Performance Report

Yes I did, I did all of the question trainers, scored between 58-64%, and I did about half of the qbank questions
  7. NCLEX Candidate Performance Report

What is your study plan? Have u taken a review course such as Kaplan? You have an advantage in receiving your performance report because you can see what areas you did poorly in. Focus on those areas, pick up a Saunders review book and practice quest...
  8. Time to get ATT

I live in NY, and applied to NY BON. I mailed in my paperwork and $143 fee on 11/23, they cashed the check on Tuesday 11/27. I paid for NCLEX-RN through Pearson Vue on 11/28. I received the ATT via email on Tuesday 12/4. The whole process took almost...
  9. I am in a Lpn to Rn program that I'd pretty fast paced, each semester is 10 weeks long. Anywho, I finished my care plan which took me 2 days to do and handed it in in time. One of my classmate just asked me if she can have my care plan when the teach...
  10. How can I gracefully and tactfully say No?

Cheaters come a dime a dozen. It happens everyday, everywhere, it may be happening right under your own nose, whether you like it or not. If she's not caught, and she gets a higher mark than me, it WILL COME BACK TO HER, some way some how. Whether it...
  11. How can I gracefully and tactfully say No?

Holypeas, please read the entire thread before commenting. The woman asked me for my work, I DID NOT GIVE IT TO HER. She asked around and got someone to DO HER CARE PLAN FOR HER. So no, I don't have anything to worry about, thankyouverymuch.
  12. How can I gracefully and tactfully say No?

Honestly, I have no desire to get involved. The other student doing the care plan is also a grown woman, who can make her own decisions. If she wants to do the care plan for her, let her be. I have nothing to do with the situation. As long as my behi...
  13. How can I gracefully and tactfully say No?

Hi, OP here. Just an update: today was the first day I've seen the woman, she said hello but did not ask me for anything. I found out later that she has someone in our group DOING HER CAREPLAN FOR HER, with the excuse that she forgot the password to ...
  14. How can I gracefully and tactfully say No?

This is the OP. First, thank u for all your responses. Just to clarify, this is an older woman who has no computer skills (she has said before that her teenage children help her on the computer). Our patients are maternity patients, which our instruc...
  15. Wearing Scrubs in a psych clinic?

Hi all, I'm an LPN and work in an outpatient psychiatric clinic, giving IM's. The clinic is part of the larger psych hospital, and is on the 8th floor. I know that professional clothing is required when working INPATIENT PSYCH, but there is nothing w...
  16. Rikers Island Agenc

Walk into ANY nursing home and submit your resume and application. More often than not, they will at least give you a call back.
  17. Hi, I am going to school in NYC to become an RN. I am hoping to move to Maryland when I'm done. My question is should I apply to take the NCLEX in Maryland therefore I can skip the whole 'licensure by endorsement' process? That way, I'll just be l...
  18. Hyper vagal response?

One of my residents last night had what i assume to be a vasovagal response. He was being assisted to the bathroom via wheelchair, he is a COPD'er on 1.5 Liters of O2 via N/C. He is a 1 assist, he is able to maneuver himself from bed to wheelchair wi...
  19. Hi all, I've been browsing this site for a while, trying to find some info that will help me feel better about my test yesterday, but I can't! I went up to 190 questions in an hour and a half, NO SELECT ALL THAT APPLY QUESTIONS AT ALL or alternative...

  21. When nursing students are mean to each other...

it's so sad that these people are judging you and they are going into a profession where each patient should be treated EQUALLY and should be given quality care, no matter what race, gender or sexual orientation. i suggest you just leave them alone a...
  22. don't know if nursing is right for me!!

Hi, I am a new grad LPN, just started a job in the middle of January at a LTC/special care (HIV/AIDS...so not all of our patients are geriatric). The work is ok, but i'm really starting to feel overwhelmed. Sometimes I feel like I don't know what I'm...
  23. One week orientation at nursing home w/25 pt's?

CRAZYSTUDENT, i dont think 25 patients is a bad deal. I have 20 patients myself, there are 2 nurses and 40 residents on the floor, so each nurse takes half. After a few days you will know their medications and their treatments. Wound care is not t...
  24. don't know if nursing is right for me!!

I will definitely keep you in my prayers, glad to hear you are feeling better. Your post doesn't make me feel as bad for myself now, nobody has ever asked me to pass meds I didn't pull or any situation like that. Good luck with your job search and y...
  25. don't know if nursing is right for me!!

I am dreading going in to work tomorrow, I am researching other majors that I may want to switch to. I am considering Dietetics, it seems like something I would really enjoy. But I don't want to give up on nursing altogether. I am so confused and I...
