Hi all... I'm seriously considering a move to AZ when I finish RN school - I am SICK of Michigan winters!!! I recently got a recruitment flyer from the Yuma Regional Med Center, and thought that it sounded good - except that I know nothing about Yu...
I start training tomorrow for a nurse tech position - I want the experience and learning opportunities. I am hoping that I will learn some things that I haven't yet in clinical, and get to use those skills. Plus, it will be a great way to keep my a...

When you get to 1600s, you'll have to do a physical assessment checkoff w/a partner; you will have to wear shorts/tank top, but that's the extent of being partially undressed. No big deal, really.

As a mom of a preemie that got very sick w/RSV at 6mos of age... I am appalled and infuriated at your instructor's behavior. :angryfire I hope she's in deep doo-doo... keep us posted.

Thanks for the info! I hear what you're saying about the Sedona area being pricey - I was browsing thru listings at realtor.com and... Extreme heat doesn't sound bad to me today as I look out at the snow covering everything outside.... ugh.

To put things in perspective, I make $17/hr as a unit secretary in the Detroit area... I'm not sure what new RN grads make... I think it's around $23/hour.
Hi there... welcome to the world of student nursing :-) My biggest tip would be to be organized to a fault, keep up with your reading, and take things one week at a time so as not to feel overwhelmed. Congrats! ~ Laurie
And Daytonite - I think that you should be a nursing instructor! You would be soooooo awesome at that. I've learned a LOT from you on this forum, esp w/nursing diagnosis stuff. :-) Laurie
Charlies... I am not telling you not to share your opinions - that's what this forum is about. It's just that in all of your posts regarding RNs having students working under them, you definitely came across as an RN in your comments. That's all. P...
Jayla... you make an excellent point. In fact, I have a friend who's DH was just diagnosed with small cell lung CA - at 40 years of age. Never smoked a day in his life, either. How do I know that? Because I've heard more than a few people ask her...
That is exactly what my school/instructor does. Perhaps that is why we haven't yet had any major problems thus far. And no, I do not expect the RNs to "teach" me, per se, or be responsible for me... but I think that if I have a question about their p...
Whoa... stop the presses. I just went back and read thru some of your posts, Charlies... and here's a nugget from you dated 3/4/07: Ummm... how long have you been a nurse? From you on 2/19/07: Oh, I'm sorry, you're still a STUDENT, right? I a...
Charlies, you were a nursing student at one time, right? Do you remember what it was like as a green student in those first clinicals? Why do I sense that you resent students? Believe me, when I'm in clincals, I rarely bother my RN unless I absolutel...

Update: Today in clinicals, I overheard one of the RNs stating that she was about to give a Lovenox injection. I had forgotten about this thread until that moment, so I asked her, "Where do give that injection?" Her response: "In the belly, like ...
