Read most of the posts. I agree that this nurse should not have posted that message. I think firing is appropriate. That being written, what is too stop an employer from firing someone who posts certain beliefs, political opinions, etc...these things...

I don't like taking money from the poor either. You are a very ethical person for even wanting to take on this fight and the fact that you care is huge. Not many people want to fight "city hall" nor do that want to fight for the underdog or the poor....

I see alot of posts about flood nursing but critical care nursing has its issues. Staffing is not as it should be....no disrespect meant when I type this...but I can wing it with caring for floor patients than unit patients....unit patients are sicke...

Just remember that no question is a stupid question. Neuro patients sometimes have very subtle changes...and those subtle changes can be a big deal....so don't be afraid to let your charge nurse and the docs know these things....grown some thick skin...

Agree with Tyvin to a point...but remember culture is at play here...the culture of using abbreviations and the culture of nurses being like secretaries...also if nurses try to correct docs about this type of thing some fo them get mad...the culture ...

I agree with with pedicurn....docs need to dispose of their own sharps. Some hospitals actually have that written in black and white.

I have had good and bad experiences with these types of doctors. Does this doctor probably care for his patients or is he mad because he does not know how to care for his patients and the nurses suggest things because he is not doing his job. Just so...
