    Still work in hospital?

You will fine "mean" nurses anywhere you work..but the unit you worked at seems to have been toxic for you. I'm sorry that happened to you. If you have another job offer at another hospital I would...

    How long did you wait.....

I took the boards back in July of '06- passed, but it took me 4 months to find a job...ended up starting work in Nov of '06 while all my other classmates started before me. Not sure how they landed...

    How much is your pay?

I know a couple of people that work at MGH and yes..its 4 plus the 7 so it would be 11/hr differential for weekend night shift.
  7. Anyone have any experiences working at the Brigham? Specifically in Cardiac ICU? I got a call from the Brigham since I gave my resume to the NM of the Cardiac Surgical ICU and HR left me a message...

    Surgical vs General Medical Unit

I work in a surgical unit (vascular). IMO, though it may be alittle biased because I'm used to working in a surgical floor, floating to medical units seemed a little bit easier than my floor. We get a...

are they supposed to know this by now?

I agree with the other posters. Different schools may just do things differently. I was in a BSN program..and honestly I don't remember when I first learned how to spike a bag of IV fluids but I do...

    Were You a Nursing Assistant

Yes, I was a CNA/PCA for 2 years before becoming an RN. It helped with some of the basic nursing skills, such as bed baths, glucometry, even learning how to draw blood and do EKGs. I'm glad I had that...
  16. Yep..up to 6 patients during the day and that's with a tech. Not everyone has a tech working with them during the day so a nurse can have a max of 5-6 with a tech; max of 4 patients BY YOURSELF....
  17. I wish I could say the same..those are great

1st job over in 5 months

I think it wouldn't hurt to apply for both..since you've only had 5 months experience. If you were to interview at another place, just explain that the first place didn't work out and maybe you can...
  19. I work at Beth Israel in Boston and there has been some staffing issues there. I work permanent nights and our max is supposed to be 5-6 patients. Though I've had up to 7-8 patients when we are one...
