Lynn120, I went to The Hanover Practical Nursing Program in Hanover PA. As far as I know there aren't any evening classes. The program is Mon-Fri. 8am to 4pm, but we always got out early except during clinicals. Classes start 2x/year in Jan and July....
  2. Graduation, Traditional or Not?

Thanks Jules! Graduating felt so good, I can't belive it's over! For now anyway until I graduate from CC with an ADN. Anyone out there who did graduate in a traditional manner and actually enjoyed it?
  3. Graduation, Traditional or Not?

Hi, I recently graduated from LPN school. Our ceremony was very traditional, complete with the white nurses cap, white starched below the knee length dress, pinning, and of course the lit lantern when we recited the nurses pledge. The director of the...

See that's the thing, I'm not addicted to any drug. I was put in a situation by my husband. And another thing is that I don't have a license yet, I'm trying to obtain one. Maybe she's willing to help nurses keep a license but what if a person doen't ...

I like the comment Jamie Dale made, I am a CNA and currently in LPN school. Because I am a CNA, as a LPN I will trully appreciate them when I am supervising them. I want to be a CRNA but to tell you the truth because of my experience as a CNA I will ...

Hi! I'm currently a student at The Hanover Practical Nursing Program. I graduate in January and I also live in MD. I drive 1 hour every day to get there, but it's worth the drive. The school is great, I mean it's hard work but anything that's worth s...

I'm Half AA half Italian, my husband and kids are AA, just wanted to know if this area in WI is culturally diverse. Sounds weird but these things are important to me if I'm going to move my family to this area of the country. I live in an area in MD ...

Thanks Jules, very helpful, and I currently don't have any pre-reqs so I'm in for a long road in order to be a RN
  13. Finding a bridge program, urgh!

I plan on going to BCCC in Catonsville. I think I'm going to try to do most of the pre-reqs online. I don't think I can stand to sit in another classroom right away, however I do enjoy interacting with my teachers. How long do you think it will take ...
  14. Finding a bridge program, urgh!

Hey Jules! what county do you live in? I thought most of the CC's accept pre-reqs from other MD schools. I quess I was wrong.
  15. Private LPN Schools In Maryland

I graduate January 11, 2007. But our last day of school/clinicals is Dec.21 Thank God!! I am soooo tired of doing Care Plans and from what I've heard LPNs don't even do them in the "real world". RNs that I have talked to also say they are all pre-pri...

So Jules, Your a LPN. Where do you work? Nursing home, Hospital, Dr. Office? Just want to know if there is any hope for me working at a hospital as a LPN. I really don't want to work at a Nursing home for various reasons. Just curious.
  18. Private LPN Schools In Maryland

When I go on to earn an ADN, I will have the option to "test out" of some of the pre-req courses such as A&P. I will still have to take other classes like Micro, Psych, Speech etc.. However as an LPN I will get credit for the first year of Nursin...
  19. Private LPN Schools In Maryland

Yes, there are a ton of LPN schools in MD but like I said they are all through the colleges. Once an applicant completes all the pre-reqs and gets "accepted" into the PN program they have already been in school for a year, when they could have went t...
  20. Private LPN Schools In Maryland

There are no private LPN schools in MD they are all through colleges. Personally I think it's a money thing. All the private schools they had are now closed down, which is sad considering the shortage of nurses. I live in the Woodlawn area and drive ...
  21. excelsior college not recognized by Maryland anymore??

This really messes up my plans for earning an ADN. I graduate LPN school in January 2007, but planned to go through the College Network soon after passing boards. Now I don't know what to do, I don't think I can stand to sit in another classroom for ...
  22. good agencies in MD?

There are alot of good agencies here in MD. The pay is much better than other states. LPNs can make anywhere from $28-32/ hour depending on shift and facility. RNs can make anywhere from $39-50/ hour. Specialty RNs are the ones who make up toward $50...
  23. I'm doing the LPN to RN thing because I have small children and I couldn't stand to work as a CNA any longer especially for 2-3 years while going to RN school. This way I can earn LPN wages while getting a ASN degree and the hospital I plan to work a...

I go to PN school in Hanover, PA but live in MD. I wanted to go through RUE or the college network to become a RN. Like you said as of 12/2007 MD will no longer accept Excelsior College as a school in MD. Since both of the previously mentioned progr...

I would agree it depends on where you live. I live in MD and LPN here earn $17-22/ hour. After you gain some experience you might want to consider working for an agency part or full-time. Our agency LPNs here in MD make $28-32/hour.
